    As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

    When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

    Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

    Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

    Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

if anyone's put one in, what part number did you use? i asked at huskysport about these and they advised me against it due to them being non-insulated or something, can't remember exactly what they said now. if anyone's run one please holla!
 
I have used iridiums since they came out. I guarantee an easier start in the cold, cleaner running-get about 10 klms per tank and I honestly believe the burn is more complet and claner. They last forever and do not foul as much
 
I bought a CR8EIB stock# 4948, will install next time the tank is off. Not sure how it differs from the CR8EIA Dom listed but the "B" showed as the correct part on the site I purchased from. CR8EIX JonXX listed works also but has a threaded terminal tip so you need to use a terminal nut. The way these bikes vibrate I much prefer the safer solid terminal tip.

nice one fellas, thanks for posting. the CR8EIX comes up on the ngk site as the right plug. some pics i see on google have threaded tips, some don't. will go and have a look in a shop and see what's up. the CRE8B seems to be the plug for the 630 from what i've briefly seen.

Interestingly, when the PO of my newly acquired 2008 TE610 said he took the bike to Ferracci in Doylestown , PA where it was sourced......for some minor stuttering and flatness......the only thing they replaced was the plug to an Iridium.

I spoke with Eraldo himself, unknowingly, after buying the bike to see if they had any records of tuning they may have done on initial sale. He couldn't find anything specific but he did admit they "tune" out "some" factory leaness on all the bikes they sell.
I never learned what software/tuner they use.........but my bike rips right off of idle.......and no stuttering anywhere along the curve.

For supposedly OEM stock.....I'm impressed.

If all it actually took was an Iridium plug.......I'm an Iridium fan.

That's what I wondered also until I pulled my tank and the installed O2 sensor is connected up OEM.

Muffler is untouched.............1300 miles.

The Ferracci receipt shows 1 hr labor and the Iridium plug............but they may have tuned on it a little before they sold it. He is pretty much into racy Ducatis.......but a race oriented dealership.......so I don't know what the ECU looks like until I get some diagnostics on it.
I searched for months before finding this bike in PA...........but I'm very happy so far.

The Big Girl is sleeping in the garage on the mountain while we escape here in FL until Apr. I can hardly wait to get back to it and get the "fix-its" done. She's stock except for Seat Concepts, ProBillet rack, and hand guards.
I only got 2 hrs on her at a nearby ORV park (Brown Mtn) before we left for FL and she turned me every where but loose.
 
I´ve changed from stoch NGK to Iridium. My sm610ie started just like it started before...no noticable differences.
 
I bought a 4 pack of the NGK CR8EIX and put them in all 4 of our Husky's. The 250/310 was the most noticable easier starting and better idle. All the bikes love them and fell better all around. BUT like was said above, the X has the wrong terminal tip and the caps are a complete pita to get off. Get the iridium, but DO get the right terminal tip, unless you want to invent new curse words.
 
So from what I have gathered, the CR8EIX has the wrong terminal end. The CR8EIA and the CR8EIB can also be used.
Which plug has the appropriate end?
The CR8EIA or the CR8EIB?
 
To be honest I do not understand the issue - see my post above with a link to all you need to know about plug coding. The X refers to a booster gap - not a terminal end??? Most plugs I know either have a cap or not - if capped you simply turn it off with a pair of pliers, no issue whatsoever?
 
On the contrary there is misleading information to a first time reader of this thread and the intent is not to turn this into a pissing match.
With different forum members using three different part numbers, the question is valid.

IX=High Performance Iridium (0.6mmØ)

Agreed that normally one only needs to remove said terminal end with a pair of pliers. I do not recall if that is the case with the 2009 TE/SM610.
If indeed the CR8EIX comes with the removable threaded terminal end, that should be the NGK Iridium spark plug of choice.
