  • Hi everyone,

    As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

    When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

    Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

    Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

    Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

    Thanks for your patience and support!

Iridium IX Spark plugs 449-511

Hundreds of happy riders have proven it's no problem. As long as you leave the connector in place that runs the 2nd Butterfly actuator, the ECU doesn't know the difference. I removed the O2 sensor years ago as it only works with Map1 (aka jumper removed)

Sitrep:
* Changed back to the original spark plug
* Removed the idle roller
* Removed the secondary butterfly

Without a doubt, 100% throttle control/idle control and engine breaking reclaimed, no flame outs. After riding 4 houres total, no issues noticed. I even removed the RaceMapII plug to see how she would run, no flame outs and no handing idle. Earlier the bike was useless without the RaceMapII jumper installed, would flame out all the time, even at higher speeds when the throttle was dropped.

One question though, how do we know that the fuel injection isn't impacted negativly when the secondary butterfly is removed, wouldn't this impact the fuel/air ratio? I guess this would depend on where the air-ratio sensor is located. The bike feels great now, finally.

The EFI makes corrections to the tables based on the MAP sensor as well as all the other sensors (TPS, Coolant, air temp etc)
With the secondary butterfly in place, the MAP sensor still sees a partial vacuum when the main throttle is opened and adjusts fuelling to suit.
Even with the 2nd butterfly removed, the ecu sees whatever manifold pressure there is based on the MAP sensor and adds fuel accordingly.

Hi Dangermouse
I removed the second butterfly on my TE 449 Supermoto but still have the idle roller arm installed...
would u recomend to also remove it?
can u tell me if the fuel/air ratio is impacted by removing the second butterfly?
Im a bit scared to just test it full power on the streets...
dont want something unecpected to happen and to fly out of a turn :)

THX man apreciate it

Take out the second butterfly and remove the swedged lug on the idle roller pulleys arm as well.
The AFR will have nothing to do with that mod, it has everything to do with what map you are running.
Go to Map 3 also known as the Akro map is recommended.
Tune ECU is your friend for this.
Unless you are running a PC 5.

Now I feel safe to send it again
