  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Interstate commuting on stock TE510

That's pretty good advice pvduke. Thanks for the info Fast 1. My typical ride consists of rough, steep sometimes, rocky single and two track here in NorCal. I just dig my '09 so much I want to ride it all the time. I easily can sacrifice comfort for the fun of riding all the time. I'll try a different gear combo and make my commute on select days to lengthen the life of my my motor and give up a little bottom end hit on dirt days. TE510- Best bike I've ever had!

Bump up 1 T on the front ... It might work well for you ... It really opened up the feel of my bike and it was still low-geared enough in 1st to handle most trail stuff unless it got very technical ...

+1.. I rarely even use the 13 t front even on single track rides. If entering sanctioned races where every second counts, that 13 T might be important. I don't think you can fit a 15/47 combo with the stock chain. I installed a new chain with +2 links and can run all three front counters however the 13 sets the axle back about to the limit in the back of the swing arm.

Frickin awesome B&W pic! Everything about that shot just screams after school in 1974. I'm all choked up here.

not really relevant to this thread but 1974 it was.. that little Elsinore propelled me to holeshot wheelies all the time with 2nd gear starts. I've got the white shirt on.. Close up and also zoomed out to show the field of riders.
