• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Intermitant Fuel Pump Failure

I had the same problem on my 2010 TE250 when it was new....100 miles.

Was racing an enduro in a long fast sand section and I hit a log hard and the pump stopped....took it out of the tank trail side with guys ripping past, plugged in the wires and the pump started!....put it all back and rode off to the check out 50 minutes late.

Next section..same thing took it all apart..spilled gas all over myself, located the one lost screw in the leaves and rode to the checkout 55 minutes late this time.

Last section the bike was fine, made it to the check out and the bike stalled. Was pulled into the pits by a 1990 DR350S

Dealer replaced the pump with one from another bike and hit has been fine since.

Well mine isn't doing thy when running. Just if I shut the bike off then a few minutes later turn the switch to ON and then it won't kick the relay til 10-30 seconds later. So I don't think it's the fuel pump failing. Thanks though

So it´s still an unsolved problem. I thought I had got mine sorted out. It started straight off like new. And today it started on the out ward trip and then took a long time on the starter for the trip back home. I´ll check the connector under the tank as it looks as if it´s the fuel pump.

I am currently stranded with this problem.
Bike was running fine until I stopped for 5 mins.
It then would not prime the fuel pump and the neutral led does not light.
Any one else had this issue with the LED?
Pretty sure it is a wiring issue.
Fortunately I have found somewhere to stay for tonight so will get a look at it in the morning once it has stopped raining.

not sure what to recommend but a bump to keep this thread at the top for some assistance.

Got back home. checked all looms and connectors. they are not pretty but could not find the culprit.
I can force the pump to prime and the neutral led to light if I rapidly press the start button on and off.
Then it starts and seems to run ok.
What could it be?

Thanks, been looking at the schematics and I have a hunch that it is one of the relays. will get them tested tomorrow.
Once I have fixed this I want to sort out all the wiring.
It is disgusting.

Make sure you go with the Hi Flo after market pump and not the cheap eBay one. However the HF is available on eBay too;)

I got a Hi-Flo for a lady friend of Mine's X-Challenge --worked for about 10km and that was it busted. Trouble was we brought it in from overseas -
My one 610 gave problems and I put in one from Cycle works --same as the ktm 690 pump --works like a dream for over 25,000 km already now --

If it turns out to be the pump, we carry the high quality efi pumps from Cycleworks. We also have low micron stainless steel rebuildable filters.

Cool thanks. It has worked perfectly now for several days. Carrying a good spare relay in my jacket and waiting for the fault to reappear.
I am pretty sure the pump is ok, it had a new one only 1000 miles ago.
Good to know you have pumps, It took me ages to get one out of Italy!

Are they indeed for the 630? If I look at the ca-cycleworks site I only see one for the 610 (and another, but it's a four hole mount.)

You must adapt it to fit and swap out the stock filter for stainless like OHR did in his thread. The cycleworks pump is 30mm like oem and not 32mm.

Gotcha. I'm due to go back and read more of OHR's experiences anyhow- great thread that guy has going.

Hi what fixed the problem as i have the same on a TXC250 2013, stopped fueling after a break, the red light may flicker and it will try to fire but then wont light up and no fuel pump noise!!

HELP!!

I have changed both fuses inside the right panel with no luck i got a flicker of red light and a small fire but didnt catch and now no red light or fuel pump

ANY IDEAS ANYONE?

hey man, i had pump problems....priming...then not priming....let me down a lot, so much i lost faith in the bike. dealer was no help either.! got a new pump from the US ...fitted it..not a problem since

Well, it would seem my 2010 TE510 is behaving like most everbody else's bike on this thread.
Run it for +30 minutes, switch it off. Switch back on again and fuel pump wont prime.
Let it cool off for +20 minutes, switch on and the pump will prime again.
Run it for a bit, switch off and on again and the pump will not prime. etc etc.

Gonna try the relay first, then if that don't work I will replace the fuel pump.

Got it sorted, it was the plug connector from the stator/generator, it had burnt and was shorting. Replaced with a HD plug job done!
