  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Intake valves diference between 05 & 06 TE510

TRIPLE-M

Husqvarna
AA Class
I bought a pair of SS intake valves supposedly meant for 06-08 TE510, but my mechanic says they are too big compared to those on my 06 TE510. The new ones measured 37mm and the old ones are 33mm, both have the same height and stem. My question is - Did I get my bike's year wrongly, or has wrong valves been sent to me? Thanks.

I think the size of the intake valves increased from 33mm to 37mm for the '06 models. Maybe your bike isn't an '06 - find the 17 digit VIN (chassis) number that's stamped on the headstock. The model year is the 10th digit and will be before the letter V. Yours should be a 6 if it's an '06 model. Or it might not be the original motor.

Hope this helps.

edit: rancher1 beat me to it.

i recently heard of a 2006 te 450 that had smaller valves the other day.the replacement ones sold were too big.the bike turned out to have the valves that were used in a te 400,which is a model that husky did not import to the US.every now and then a goof up occurs in Varese!dan

Mine is a 5V. The parts manual says 5V are TE510/2006, for TE510 /2005 it's 4V, and 7V for TE510/2007. The bike was bought in Jan 06 & I am in Asia. I do believe now I got a configuration between a 05 & 06. My forks are also of 05's 45mm rather then the 48mm found on the later 06's.

2006 had 50mm forks, the 5 in your vin means it is a 2005. Does your motor also have a counterbalancer ? Those were used in 2005 but not 2006.

Yes, my forks are 45 instead of 50. I do not know how to confirm on the counterbalancer. The original plastics and tank on the bike are from 06 models and it's a 5V on the vin. These snapshots from 05 & 06 parts manual confirm it's a TE510/2006.

Clearly, there was some mix and match configuration for my bike and I have to be careful when ordering parts. And also, based on MotoXotica's observation, I found similar parts are used in 05 TE510 and 06 TE400, eg. the cylinder head. Just sharing some info here.

It looks like Varese has no respect for the international vin standard! Seriously, it's possible that small manufacturers get some sort dispensation regarding date codes.
Out of interest what are the last 6 digits of your vin? This is the bike's actual number off the production line (sort of), so I wondered how it compared with the charts in the manuals.
