  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Ims Vs Clarke

I am looking at getting a bigger tank for my 05 TE450. Looking for feedback on the IMS 3.9 and Clarke 3.7. Likes, dislikes? Any issues with either?

I have an 07 510TE and had a larger tank put on when new (brand unknown). I think most of my overheating problems came from the larger tank reducing the airflow.

My first experience with an IMS was on my KLX650R. My OEM tank was irrepairable. The tank bolted up great, however, the surface where my petcock mounted had a dip in the center. No way was it going to seal off. I spent several hours with a file making a true surface. They said that happens sometimes when released from the mold. Just some heads up.

Put two IMS tanks on CRF450's. Both fit good. Had problems with one cap leaking. Called IMS and customer service was great. No experience with Clark. Sorry no Husky exp. I plan to buy and carry a one gallon fuel bladder. Not cheap but I don't want oversized tank for my 2011 310 . No good reason other than don't need a huge tank for all my rides. As soon as I am down a gallon I'll empty the bladder. Gas tanks.com

IMO the Clarke tanks are better made, I've had 4 IMS tanks on Husky's and had problems with all of them, Iv'e had 1 Clarke on my '05 and it has been bulletproof. The IMS does look better though.

I have an IMS on my 07 te450 and it has been great. No problems at all. I have used IMS for 3 wheelers quads, and klx350s they just produced. I don't know what happened to the 08-10 fi tanks. Other wise I think they are great.

Well I ordered a 3.9 IMS yesterday. Will see how it goes. I didn't go with the Clarke 3.7 because I might just need the the extra .2 gallons on an upcoming trip to NM CO and UT. Thanks for the replys.
