• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

IMS Tank for TE630

Here's what I wrote to IMS:

Sure would appreciate it if you were to fab up a fuel tank for the 2011 Husky TE630. 4-1/2 to 5 gallons would be great! Seriously, even though this is a short production run bike, there are a lot of guys out there that are pretty fanatical about it. We'd all just like a little more range out of it.

and throw in some Clint Eastwood vocabulary and a picture of Dirty Harry......guns pointed or course......and I think we got ourself a draft letter. What do you think?! :D

On the serious side, I wrote something similar but requested as others suggested to keep the stock shroud, gas cap, keep the nice lines, and make it less then $500. Also added soemthing about Cafehusky as a good test group and maybe a way to obtain a bike for measuring etc..

I also just sent an e-mail for the fuel tank. Hopefully they do it.
On another subject. Has anyone found a decent DOT off-road tire to replace the stock tires?
Just went steep single track on gravel, sand and boulders. It washed out and stalled but I did not drop her!

606 is going on mine!

ready to order the IMS 4.5 / 5 gl now for the TE630! just need a source that has stock.. LOL

I got the Safari for my TE 610 IE but that's actually -too- big for my needs, I really wanted a 4.5 gallon IMS, it also looks better in my opinion.

I assume we are talking little gallons, with a 4.5 G US being only 3.7 G UK. That would be a good size as a 25 L (5.5 G UK / 6.6 G US) Safari tank is a bit on the big side. That said you don't have to fill it to the top and it provides a bit of extra protection on the sides. Only problem is a $500 tank there is a $800 tank here......we really do know how to rip off the consumer in the UK.

I know this tank is unlikely but 4-5 gallons would be nice... My plan for around here and even baja is the stock tank and a couple of these strapped to the giant loop bag I have. Not ideal but it'll work.

This will give me 3.7 which will get the job done. This setup would leave me for dead in the middle of nowhere Nevada but ok for here in Colorado or even riding from Pemex to Pemex in Baja.

Personally I just don't like the visuals of the Safari. I could run it not full and not have much of a weight penalty but can't get past the front heavy look of the bike with it.. Embarassing to admit.

I thought the same and resisted for a few months but its a dirt bike so function won out over beauty. I've warmed up to the Safari tank looks and no regrets at all.

Also no telling what a 5 gal IMS will look like either. Can't be a standard design as they need to incorporate the fuel pump. I've seen ~5 gal Acerbis and IMS tanks that look like bloated whale blubber sacks hanging off the bike. The Safari tank is actually narrower than the stock tank and holds the majority of capacity lower than the stock tank also. It also serves as adequate protection for the radiators. I never partially fill even when riding single track, the added weight just isn't that much of a factor. And fully loaded weight difference between a 5 and 6.6 gal tank is only 10 lbs anyway.

Acerbis on a KTM mid sized bike. Hope your IMS doesn't turn out looking like this. But honestly doubtful IMS will ever design and release.
