  • Hi everyone,

    As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

    When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

    Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

    Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

    Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Just received my IMS tank today
Had to rush home and fit it :D
I would have preferred black but i wanted to know how much gas was left in the tank ;)

Whoever designed it must have had their eyes closed but it still fits ok :D
If you look at the bottom left pic you can see the GAP under the center on the tank where you could almost fit a spare tube or a tool box !LOL
There is easily space to ad another 1-2 litres just by using the remaining gaps under the tank.
Overall I like it and would recomend it.

Cool, i was wonering if my "gap" was just mine. Wish they could have snugged it down a little. I usually do 40-50 mile rides and have a decent amount left at the end. I have a hard time determining overall range with it. Any ideas? I would venture to gues 70 ish miles?
 
Should be more than 70 as I've done 60 miles at GP on my stock 09 wr300 w/ fat jetting.
I think 90 would be a better guess.
 
I wont comment on the mileage as the dunes were mega soft today.
I cant see why this tank would not fit the 2010 since nothing changed between the 09 & 10 except the ignition and forks.


Everyone commented on the tank today, since Im the only one riding a Husky 2 stroke in an ocean of Ktms it gets some attention.
I think the new tank makes her look like the beast it is :D

I've fit one to my 2010 wr300 without any worries whatsoever.

Prices here Part # 112415-N2 $245 + $65 shipping to Australia. = $310 US which is just about $310 AUD depending on what day you buy it. Postage was quick and I had no hassle with them. I actually bought mine through ebay - but it's the same prices as their website. You can get the same tank from R&D in Sydney, but it's $570 + shipping.

You have to remember that this tank was designed for 4 strokes, hence all the spare space everywhere. I agree - an extra 2 litres would easily fit with the space near the headstem and the space cut out for the kick start.

I'm not complaining too much - at least I could get a big tank. I haven't noticed anything negative as far as moving around, nor balance.

It's a good thing - get one!
 
Mine isn't white - it's actual 'natural' which is kind of transluscent - it doesn't look as white as what the photo shows. I wanted to be able to see the fuel level given I'm getting pretty average consumption at the moment. The proper white would look really good with the other white plastics - I hadn't thought of that.

how does it affect handling?
also can radiator guards still be fitted with this tank?
 
Can't comment on rad guards as I don't have them.

I haven't noticed any negative impact on the handling. The weight is not that much higher than the stocky - most of the extra volume is lower. Just my 2 cents from a very average weekend warrior.

I think the way the tank is designed the gas hangs lower and with a full tank it actually feels a little more stable.
I could feel the extra weight when full (only a small increase) but it actually made me ride faster.... why I dont know
No negative affect on handling at all, the bike just doesnt feel as small as with the low factory tank.
Not sure about the guards but there is mega room under the tank so I dont think there would be any issues.
Worst case you can trim your guards a tiny bit :)
