  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

IMS 449/511 gas tanks

There's a thread somewhere about. You can call zip Ty or pm Tinken. They are going to sell them and already had one on a bike they built. I think the tank is still a couple weeks out though

No from IMS, its is advertised as ready to purchase and they do not charge shipping. Pretty excited to get my hands on the combo, as every ride is a struggle with fuel range. Sold a sweet vintage Yamaha to fund it and want to stretch my $$ as far as I can. Thanks for the reply.
P.S. I have been riding my TE511 a great deal lately, am very happy with the bike once the oil puking was resolved. It will do everything, very surprised how it handles the stupid stuff. I flamed out and flopped around on a steep hill covered with baby heads on a night ride last week, but it was more of poor line choice and losing momentum, Nice head light I can now say. Keep a finger on the clutch and the revs up and it wont stall until you do. I made a rack for the rear fender out of .050 aluminum diamond plate and bolted an MSR tail pack to it, big fender makes a nice platform once you flatten it out. Its all about rocks here, nothing whacks on this bike, like my past KTM and Gasser, must be no linkage hanging down. Anyway, I tend to buy a bike and refuse to ride anything else, what I don't know wont make me want one.

If you put in CH10 it will give you 10% off if I remember right or you could call Zip Ty. I would think with something that price (even with the weight) it would take care of shipping

Tinken, your site says tank/seat combo. could you elaborate on the seat. I just did a seat concepts pad and would like to keep it.

I spoke to the nice fellas at IMS today by cell, said tanks/seats will ship when instruction sheet is done. They gave me 10% off for being a previous customer + free shipping. Made me happy and loyal.
I have a Safari brand gas tank on my 300 Gas Gas, it's very well made and survived a 6th gear get off this past weekend quite intact, so I am a believer in there products, but the price difference and the included high end seat make IMS quite a bargain.

Look forward to your thoughts on this tank. I am interested as well.

I was just told mine shipped yesterday, the installation instructions are up on the IMS site, reading through it gives some insight.

Mounted. Took me 4 solid hours including making two simple brackets.
Very impressed with this product so far.
- It fit with the 7062 Radiator braces installed(good thing since remounting the fan would be a pain) with out using the provided IMS braces for the lower front right and left.
- I made mounts that attach to the IMS tank location and the lower cross bar bolt of the braces. you can see in the photo.
- The provided templates for cutting the side panels were worded incorrectly but work.
- Two 5mm x 35mm pan head screws are provided that pass through the gas tank below the seat where the shrouds used to bolt, the left screw needs to be 40mm, ACE is the place.
- I had to reuse my vent line, this was not clear in the instructions.
- I had no problems routing the new fuel lines.
- had to adjust the horn mount tabs to clear.
Going for a ride this weekend,P9180163.JPG see how it works in the stupid stuff.
