While prepping Cody's TC 250 for this weekend's race, I noticed an oil leak coming from the skid plate. Long story short... I pulled the plate and found the leak at the bottom of the oil filter cover. Pulled the cover and inspected the O-ring and found it compressed beyond its ability to seal. I change my oil about every 2 hours so this O-ring has about 5 oil changes on it. Obviously, 5 changes was the limit of the O-ring.
I called the dealer to order a few new ones... waiting to see if they are even stocked in the USA yet... but in the meantime, I stuck the old one back in and used Permatex on the mating surfaces. No leak.
Interesting observation: It looks to me like the O-ring groove is machined a bit too large and deep for the O-ring that's supplied.
I'm wondering if I'm the only one who's experienced this so far.
