    As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

    When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

    Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

    Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

    Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Hi All at Cafe Husky,

I need some help tracing the New Zealand importer please, I have just purchased a 2002 TE570 off an auction site and am trying to get it registered and road worthy. VIN: ZCGH601AA2V006808

Surely Husqvarna/Cagiva/BMW have some records of which dealer purchased a particular bike, is there anybody out there that can point me in the right direction, so I can track the import path and get this beast on the road, I am itching to ride. Thanks Rod.
 
Clearly I am not understanding the situation.

If you know who the (presumably New Zealand) dealer was that sold that particular bike, you could then register it?

?
 
That's the problem, we do not know the NZ dealer that sold the bike in the first place, they may have closed down, but if we can track down the dealer and I can contact one of the owners, I may be able to get an affidavit, then the licensing depart will allow the bike to be registered. Thanks
 
Well, as far as I know, in the usa at least, the importer would be the one that takes responsibility for the overall product line, and dealers.


Would a better question be, who was the importer in 2002 then track down who the dealer was? Or maybe ask for more information from the person that sold it to you?

Was it ever registered at all?
 
Have you checked the vin with VTNZ? Just go along and they will tell you if it is in the system. If it is all you need to do is a warrant n pay rego.
 
Thanks for all the reply's, bike is currently at VTNZ, unfortunately it has never been registered and is not in the system. VTNZ have contacted Triumph, but they have no record. The guy who sold it to me is not replying to email or cell phone calls, maybe I need to go a knocking on his door, he claims he sold it for an "uncle" who is overseas and does not know where it was purchased from. I thought if we could trace from the factory, then we could confirm where the bike comes from and find out how it got into NZ. Any other ideas anyone??
 
Hey Guys this thread seems to have dried up, I really would like to get this bike on the road, so any help would be much appreciated, I have contacted info@husqvarnamotorcycles.com.au, got a quick reply from Mark thanks, but it was prior to their distribution agreement, have emailed info@husky.com.au, no reply as yet. I need to know if the TE was imported through a dealer or private import in a container, it has only been used off road in the past. Is there perhaps a way we find out from the factory where that VIN number was sent to?
 
Thanks Brianflex, but that is the question does anyone know the contact details for the "factory"? Not sure if we should contact BMW, Cagiva or Husqvarna, but any contact email would be a great start, thanks.
 
Surely the NZ importer could find out the info you need.
Go and knock on their door with the details and ask them to help out a customer as that's what you are at the end of the day.
Don't bother trying to call Italy, even the dealers here in the UK would be lucky to get a response!
