  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

250-500cc I'm thinking BLUE

Jhunter

Husqvarna
AA Class
I've got an '08 WR250 and I'm thinking about swapping out the Red plastic for BLUE. Both fenders and side panels are White so this could be pretty inexpensive. If you have some photos, can you post them. Just looking for some ideas for the graphics. Thanks!

Im doing the same thing. Gonna get blue shrouds and do my race graphics yellow white and blue. Just gotta get my billet footpegs and other red stuff powdercoated a different color..
I might be doing blue rims as well.

K5PL5 - Have you been able to find the Blue radiator shrouds with the Husky Name/Logo embedded into the plastic? I would like mine to look similar to the red 'factory' look that I have today.

I'm also on a Toyota Tacoma forum and a ton of guys over there are all jumping on this 'Plasti-Dip' product. They are blacking out all the badges on their vehicles and now they're doing wheels. This product comes in a bunch of colors and looks easy to use. Check out this video. You can also search YouTube for guys doing this on their wheels...

Hmmmm....Im 50/50 on this. Since it doesnt appear to be a permanent mod, I think I might try some plasti dip on the rims of my supermoto wheels. Im thinking some crazy neon color!

I just bought a new Tacoma so I'm going to 'black out' all of the badges this weekend. If that goes well, I'm going to tackle the wheels on my bike. The black 'stickers' along the edges of the wheels may provide the added protection needed to protect the black dip and keep it from scratching... After watching about 10 different videos on YouTube, I'm feeling pretty good about this

I think it's a great "temporary" change of color. Once it starts to chip, or peel up in one spot, it's done... I've seen a few nicer cars done with this, and it looked incredibly good.

I plasti dipped my rims. If you do it make sure to put on lots of coats. My front forks leaked oil and completly ruined the front. the rear seems to be holding up ok starting to peel on the edges but thats it.I only used about 2 cans though so should have bought one more. It does not chip or anything. Its like a really strong latex coating almost. Its really stretchy when you peel it off.

Here's the a guys doing some dirt bike wheels...

Looks easy enough ... Street bikes take way less abuse than trailers so the last might be a long time for those bikes... I'll let some of my friends here know about this because it looks like the type of low-cost upgrade they like here.

After it peals, the rim just reverts back to the original look? No funny colorations'?

On mine they went back to normal. Ill probably redo mine and just do extra coats. Mine also peeled easier cause I rode at a real deep sandy loamy track. On sumo rims it should last a long time because theres no abuse. Should look great!

PlastiDip is great stuff, but I wouldnt use it on a dirt bike. holds up well for a while on a cage or street ride but no way would it stand up to real dirt riding abuse. i love the stuff, like Travis T said above it's like a rubber coating. more layers the better.

grille, bumper, valance, wheels... bumper 'chipped' from rock debris, 3 coats...

grille, wheels... grille lifted at corner, 3 coats... wheels holding strong for a few years but swapping tires pulled edges up. 1 full can (or more) per wheel. THICK.

peels right off like a rubber glove. awesome stuff. the trick to making it last is to cover OVER an edge. it sprays different than paint too. real nice to work with once you get used to it. paying for a good nozzle is a smart move. check out DipYourCar.com
