  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

What is it suppose to be set to havent seen what 0º to set it to anywhere. Just put cr ignition on the wr its a used stator so it has washer marks but I would like to chk it. Also please don't say get factory tool I won't buy one lol. Thanks in advance lol for any replies.

My cr has a case mark/flywheel mark on the left retaining screw slot. Can only see with the screw removed.

Doh, but I guess the wr case wouldn't have that mark therefore this is useless.

I just used the washer marks. There are some threads on cr ignition in index that have some info if you look hard
Let us know what you think of it -

The factory setting is 4 degrees advanced. Get your dial indicator and find tdc. The stator is very close to 1mm in circumference=1 degree. So advance the stator ~4mm from TDC. I will leave it up to you to find the position of the stator at TDC.

Thank you very much the 4º is what I was having trouble finding I figured at least one person would know.

This has been discussed many times in previous CR ignition conversion threads. If you will do a search you will find all this information and others experiences there. A lot of the time guys won't respond to questions that have been asked and answered quite a few times before. JFYI

You can use a piston stop and make a forward and backward mark and then measure to the center for a TDC mark. Then you can do the math to get the degree measurement from the radius. A poor boy piston stop can be made from an old hollowed out spark plug or a long bolt with the same threads as the spark plug.

After you posted that I only found one post that had it also found lots of not helpful stuff so that's why I asked in a post that had a easy to find title to help others. I could buy a factory tool or use the old marks or I could get the info I needed use a degree wheel and then post my results to help others.

I am surprised you found only one reference. I know I have answered this question several times myself, but then some of those may have been in PM's. Age and genetics may be catching up to me..CRS.

The other one I found was from you. Your the one with all the top secret info lol

WOW it is a different bike now if my forks didn't work so good I would be furious that I didn't buy a cr. I will be happy to run my lights off a rc car battery to be legal now. If you want a wr to be faster the stock ignition is limiting you. I can't wait to race tomorrow.

I was afraid you might say that! Does it rev out further?

It feels like it. I only only rode it up and down my dirt road a bunch( on the rear wheel lol ) and had to turn metering rod in a 1/4 turn and power jet out a 1/4 turn but I will post more of how I feel about it afte r the race tomorrow.
