• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

If Husky goes to Showa for 2010?

If Husky goes to Showa for 2010 the obvious advantage is that your local shop can work on them, right?

My questions is, because this suspension will be a first for Husky does any suspension shop have the knowledge just by looking at the shim stack know how to revalve it?

Or do they have to test ride the bike to get some feedback?

Or do they get the specs from central source for suspension setups?

I have a local guy who does alot of suspension work for all types of riding and is real good, but does he know what to do with first year Showa's on a Husky? Will he know the spring rates for my weight too?

Also, do you think the first year Showa's will be any good or does it take a couple of years to get the bugs sorted out like any other serious modification to a dirt bike?

As you can see I am suspension ignorant.

They should be able to work on them in short order. They may not be perfect right off the bat, but any decent shop is going to have a lot of tuning data to pull from and should be able to adjust based on your input.

That's not to say they won't have better settings a year later, after they get a few under their belt.

First Off, I for one will be surprised if we see another brand on a Husky. Second Husqvarna had Showa in 1992-1993. I think if we did see showa or KYB or whatever it would more than likely be main stream similar to another manufacture like Yamaha or Honda. Just my opinion. I think the Zokes can work pretty well in the off road world.

I don't think ANYBODY will be using Zookes in 2010, because I don't think they're going to be an O.E. supplier, or even making motorcycle forks any longer.

zokes

that wouldn't explain why tenneco bought the brand to go out of business !!! plz enlighten us... :excuseme:

I am starting to agree with Motorhead. Husky is testing Showa, BMW is testing WP, GG has already switched to Sachs and Ohlins. Not many more companies left that use Zokes.

Thats good news. My Local shop is MCR and he does Pastrana's suspension. So he should know alot about Showa.:applause:

I think they wanted their manufacturing facilities and technology.

I would like to see them go with Ohlins.

Wouldn't we all:)

I always thought it was cool that GasGas used Ohlins shocks and offered Ohlins forks as an option for a mere $600. Can't beat that:thumbsup:

Scot Harden has said that Zokes will continue be on Huskys in the future. Marzocchi techs from Italy have been working with Ty Davis' Team and he is impressed with the results.

Zokes or Showa, both are really good when set up correctly.

Dont forget lots of Zokes used in mountain bikes and mini bikes, etc.

Husky just needs to stop sending the bikes over with such stiff spring rates, and better valve specs.

Europeans just think that ALL Americans are really fat pigs, and need the stiffer springs.

Hmmmm,
I must say I took the Te out last weekend to Whiterock for the wudi XI and Les has this thing better than I was able to get the Yamaha Dialed in. Lots and lots of rock, downed trees snow and wet snotty crap all over the place. Ill keep my Zokes.

Some MY10 bikes will not have Marzocchis and some will. That is all I can say right now.

You can't do that.....:excuseme:

Tell me the 2010 TC 250 will have Ohlins....

AH! I get it. It probably depends on the model. Motocross bikes will have Showa and TE/WR will come with Zokes.

Thats my guess anyway.:excuseme:

You are going to make me wait 9 months arn't ya.;)

At least let us know that the 2010 two strokes will be completely new?
