• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

I wish husky made a trials bike.

A friend of mine picked up a gas gas 280 this summer, and ever since i have been borrowing (read stealing) it as often as possible. So I have been looking for a good deal on a nice trials bike for myself. problem is how do i choose my new brand loyalty? It's like picking a good girlfriend while still staying in love with the wife. Hard stuff. If only husky made a trials my dilema would be over. TT 250 perhaps?:excuseme:

Ah heeeem...

As the semi-official, non-designated, frequently dillweed'ish "Sherco interloper"... I can safely say, without fear of reprisal, that where trials bikes are concerned, anything you get is fine.

As long as it's a Sherco.

As long as it's a Sherco.

I don't know man, i dont want it to surrender as soon as it sees a little action. jk

sherco, gas gas, beta, they are all basically the same to me at this point.

Funny you mention trials, I was just watching this video of Toni Bou. Kind of like all other impossible stunts but watch the very last section of the movie when they show it in slow motion. That is what I want to learn how to do!! They way he can move the bike that far in a wheelie is beyond explanaion. I still think trials is the most fun I have ever had on a motorcycle.

Awwww... now that wasn't nice. :p

The French Gov't surrendered to Hitler in WWII... not the French people. Least of all Charles de Gaulle and the Free French forces.

I think Jay Leno might be solely responsible for the continuance of bad French surrender jokes.

General Francisco Franco and the nationalists were mostly to blame for Spain's quasi-neutral, anti-communism stance... Hitler supported him during the Spanish civil war.

At least that's all I remember from my squandered education.

That and only the enduro models are assembled in France, the trialers are all Spanish.
Again... squandered education. My mind was a terrible thing to waste. :oldman:

French won the World Trophy at ISDE this year and there's a lot more kick butt dirt riders where they came from!:professor:

It's all good, It's all jokeing here on my side.

Is it possible to suck most of the oil out of the suspension on an older 125 2st for a low budget trial "like" bike? So it acts more like a pogo stick?

Last tire I bought was from a place in Copperopolis CA. GREAT guy. He taught me much and let me ride on his Raga Replica.

Incredible people.

I've got an '85 Fantic 300. Aircooled, twin shock and drum brakes, but one of the first bikes with modern (for then) geometry. 20+ years ago when they had the first US World Championship down the road in Montour Falls NY, They would ride these bikes straight up vertical waterfalls like nothing. A fun little bike and a cheap entry into trials.

As of yesterday I officially suck at trials. :busted:

This was my first year competing in trials. I rode the intermediate class in 9 events and had a great time doing it. I missed 4 of the events for the series points and ended up 4th for the year. I had a string of three 2nd place finishes, two of them I was tied for 1st and lost the tiebreaker.

Here is a picture from yesterday, 2 seconds later the rear end kicked out and I picked up one of my 2 5's for the day. Those 2 5's took me from a possible 3rd place finish (and 3rd for the year) to 7th out of 11 riders. Worst finish all year.:excuseme:

Next year I move to advanced class, time to see if I can hurt myself...

Later,

Oh boy, sounds like we just might "need" a trials thread************************************************************************************************************************
Now I am starting to feel at home.
If anyone is looking for a trials scoot around central PA send me a PM, one of my buds has his 05 Gas Gas 300 Pro up for sale (his 08 left over just arived).
I have found my Montesa 4RT to be my "most fun" trials bike to date.
My Husky WR 250 was purchased to be turned into my trials - trail bike.

Yes it would be nice if Husky made a Trials bike...but that doesn't mean it would be as good as a GG or Beta or Sherco, etc.
Hard to beat a company that has made Trials bikes forever.
Now maybe if they made one from the beginning of time...you might have something.
Hell I would just get one just to go with my GG.

Nothing wrong with owning more then one bike...Right guys:thumbsup:
Just ask Kelly...how many do you have now.:D

My advice would be not to get something too old.
Befriend a Trials rider and have him help with your purchase.
Make sure you check lateral play in the back suspension

Bottom line...
Owning a Trials bike will only make riding your Husky better.

Would that be the Mr. and Mrs of CA trials?

Gotta love the right side forward kick start! Whacks ya right in the shin just above the boot if not careful. Had that bike over 15 years.
Could not kill it and just kept chugging along.

BTW..the last half of 1985 there was a monoshock version available.
