  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

i wanted to throw my new te310r off a cliff.....

Long story short, this past weekend my little brother got back into town from FT Benning, after completing basic and his AIT school 11B(infantry), i currently own a 2013 DRZ 400s, he will be taking the drz to his duty station and i needed another bike!

went to a local dealership who had the te310 instock, really like the looks of it and how light it is compared to the DRZ, so i signed the papers on it and off we went.

Now i read online BEFORE looking into buying on and had heard all the stories about getting the bike remapped right away.

unfortunately due to holiday weekend, that wasnt available to have done.

so we hit the trails with 4 other riders monday(KLR650,3 other DRZ,a KLX250)

We went from Yucaipa to big bear, now the riding itself was fun, but i didnt think the bike would have been so crappy feeling.

it felt and rode like a XR100, haha all together we did about 105 miles total about 6 miles of pavement.

took the bike back yesterday and had it remapped and airbox mod. FINALLY got the bike i purchased!!!

great bike now, loads more of power and is really enjoyable to ride.

Heres some pics from the ride, all pics were shot with just my S4.

made it into big bear!

Nice pics and I'll read all your words later ... Gotta hit the hay now ...

But before I go, I used to ask this question to all the grunts I met while I was in the Army ... I'll ask you instead this time... "Why did you (in this case your little brother) want to be an 11 bang-bang"?

he said if he's going to serve his country ,its going to be upfront banging away and putting in his work to help his buddies.

next time you feel the need to throw your 310 off a cliff let me know. I would gladly trade you my txc 511 for it lol.

What did you do for gas? Carry with you or was there something along the way? I've gone 60 miles on my tank, afraid to do much more.

I tapped over on another thread but I'll finish here for a fellow soldier :0 ... I certainly hope it works out well for him .. Myself, the only part I got right before joining, was I knew my hair was gonna be cut off ... With AFGN drawing down by the end of yr, your BRO has a better than average of making it without too much trauma.

I'll just add the grunts were not given much time for higher education ... That part sucked for their tour time as compared to the support guys I was around.

God bless our troops (Including the soldier who came home today).
F the war mongers.

I made it all the way up without issue, but i carry some metal "water bottles" in my pack with gas just in case. also that ride was done on the stock map, so that may have made the difference since it was a slow POS.

haha

he enjoyed basic and AIT, off to 25th now and its sand and beaches haha, we arent sure of the deployment cycle yet but he wants to earn his CIB and not be that guy who doesnt have one due to the draw down. but that could be a double edged sword.
