  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

I REALLY DO BELIEVE..

Valves on Honda 250's, not such a thing on the 450's but yes, one issue I am aware of and should have been addressed long ago, making the valve seats out of round, 1/2mm out of centre is poor form from Honda.
Never had a kickstand used never mind worn on a wr250f although they don't like Tarmac munching without a Cush drive.

My point was, and it still stands for me personally is, the lots of little niggly stuff and cheap feel to some bits(shrouds are crap really are).
Battery holder in the new te is a plastic add on after thought.
Wiring is a tad busy and could be much better routed and tidied (I'll fix that ).
Dash board seems to be a lot better than the older ones that hated any moisture .
Handling on the new 13/14's is light years ahead of any of the first xlite models.
The cr head, fuel inj etc is also a revelation, such an awesome bike now, pity 14 is the last of them, if they're reliable long term, it'll be a travesty . :(
I absolutely trove riding my 14, awesome handling bike ! :)

In addition to the valve machining / quality and single cam head design the airbox on the Hondas were leaky. It was a huge issue for several years. Many of my friends went through more than one motor with them denying an issue. PC-racing made all sorts of fixes as did several other companies. Yes, husky has some little things that should have been addressed years ago but all manufacturers have some issues. Yamaha was shearing woodruff keys like crazy on the WR450's. had electrical and starter issues. The new WR450 will almost not run in stock form (ultra lean stock EFI). It is what it is. They are bikes, we thrash them, fix them and ride them some more.

Aren't all toys for adults? Buy a Speed boat or a quick 8 to 9 second drag car. Then you'll see a cash muncher. Hell have you taken a look at your Avatar rabskyline? Now that would be a cash muncher and we would all enjoy it.:notworthy: LOL.

With 120 hrs on my TE449 now, I will probably be looking to update late next year.
It WILL NOT be a white KTM that's for sure.

I have know idea what I'll be looking for next, bugger-all choice :(
Yami WR is too fat, Honda, Suzi & Kawi all old old models. KTM is horrid to ride, Berg & Husky are a KTM.
No other Euro dealers within driving distance of my place....
Not cool! :(

Beta. Order it, maintain it yourself.

Oops! That should read 120 hrs NOT 220 hrs.... miss keyed.

Looking at maybe something like this. Never owned a good 2 dinger, might be time.

Sherco 300 SER factory Racing....

At least you can buy the wiring adapter to use the same 'power tuner' your mate with the YFZ has to cure it....wish I could have done that 18 months ago with my TE :)
But you are right, they all have little foibles (my bullet proof '05 WR was a big heavy hippo).
We modify & work around them & ride!!

That's it.... Saw another on Gumtree about the same price.

From the ad comments "2012 Husqvarna TC450 - Hit the tracks on this stylish european machine! Any pleb can race a japanese four banger, stand out from the crowd in terms of looks and performance!"
haha <any pleb>

Yeah, saw that one.....I might fit that description! :D

Are they a good thing??

They have Sachs shocks/forks, no one does much with them over here....

Buy the Beta RR race version and they come with red anodized Marzocchi Shivers on the front. For not much more than the standard model, maybe $500.00 bucks more or less. I was just quoted $9399.00 for a new 498 RR Racing version, Special ordered not in stock, If I want one today in Tucson AZ.
They wanted $9899.00 for the FE501 Husky but are out of stock and won't have anymore until this Fall. Which will be when I buy anyway.

I was even interested in the purchase of a possible KTM 1190 Adventure. and possibly trade in one of my Harleys. It was $16499.00 but they are all sold out until fall also the have the standard 1190 but it's more like a motard than a Enduro or Dual Sport. I want something to go where ever I want, alone if I want and off the beaten path and am just tired of Harley Riders and the biker poker runs ritual-- "Lets stop at the next bar for another beer BS".
IMHO anyone who would drink riding a dirt or street bike is a F&@C&ing Moron. I don't care if you smash your head into a tree or a guard rail if you were drinking, even if you are stopped for a break or not. On or off road.

DM They go very well and something a little different my mates sell these bikes hence why they were alittle upset when I brought my TE449.

Big Timmy that is one sweet Avatar . I think that needs to be a full picture that would make a good screen saver. or a picture in the Shed I could blow that picture up to 1.5mtrs - 1.5mtrs size.

I am of the belief that the 449/511 is not dead.

Sorry but I don't quite understand your words here on the subject. If parts are available for any machine, its probably not dead ...

In the specific case of this bike, the engine has a hole thru its' engine and FS and a SA shaft is gonna go thru that hole... This dictates that a specific frame is needed ... About everything else is just fluff around that engine hole that constitutes a CTS rear suspension on these specific, maybe one-off, bike.

If that engine design is used in the future by anyone, its gonna be a descendent of this bike and a descendent of the attempts at making a CTS from 40 yrs back. So are you saying you want to see a CTS bike in the future? Or do you wanna see this one specific bike go on forever? Not alot of examples of a single product without changes over time ...

Did bmw corner the market on engines that have a hole thru the engine and FS for the SA?

ray_ray that simply isn't true about this engine. saying that it dictates a specific frame needed. the last few years of Speedbrains last design chromoly tube chassis frames that were simaler to the BMWs cradleless front frame design, These Rallye raid bikes using the Husky 449 engines but did not use the CTS on the swing arm mount. Look up some pictures of the latest Husky powered rallye bikes. The swingarm was mounted back behind the sprocket conventionally so front sprocket changes could be made more easily I guess just like everybody else.

No CTS? News to me ... The last time I looked at the speed brain stuff, it was getting out there but did not notice no CTS ...
