  • Hi everyone,

    As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

    When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

    Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

    Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

    Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

    Thanks for your patience and support!

I need someone with an FMF megabomb to PM me!

The dual setup works and looks awesome like on the Honda's. some people are all about less weight and they wouldn't go for it. I am curious how it will sound. Honda puts their megabombs in the silencer, but they don't work because they can't evacuate the heat. When your megabomb arrives, see my 511 slip on thread or me on fitting it to your smr. :)

I still need to order the parts to fit the TC header on the SMR. You happen to have that part list handy?
Also, your opinion, is it worth having that header ceramic coated? I am contemplating against it. If it is not done properly (and you will never know), you can have ceramic material filling up the bomb chamber.

Ok Tinken, you win. I will not waste my time trying to see what I can do with some parts from Cone Engineering to attempt to recreate the megabomb.

"The diameter of the port is related to the mass of air and the volume of the chamber. A port that is too small in area for the chamber volume will "choke" the flow while one that is too large in area for the chamber volume tends to reduce the momentum of the air in the port."

The real winner here is you. Installing that megabomb is going to save you from un ubelievable amount of headache down the road. We'll get you setup and you will have a fantastic new ride. :)

Londin came across these the other day. someone elses take on dual pipes on an SMR449/511;

Interesting configuration. I have my second pipe routing under the gas tank. Something that will be closely monitor, ceramic coated, head shielded on both the pipe and the gas tank.

If this does not work, have clearance issues when on the road etc. Then I will probably resort to a single exhaust can. Time will tell.
