  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

I need my ECU reset and reflashed, I will mail it to you!

Can anyone help me out. My bike is worthless to me right now. I believe my ECU needs to be reset and reflashed. I have the power up kit, Arrow exhaust etc. I dont have a dealer near by and would like to send someone my ECU so they can plug it into there harness reset and reflash it to see if that is the problem. I really need help with this, please let me know if you can help.

Here are some links below that may give more info on Re-flashing and the 2008's. Your Vin # apparently will help determine if it needs reflashing- which requires a special CD (this is not the same as Ibeat tuning that we often discuss) dealers like Halls Husqvarna have been stated to be helpfull with this. I would call them and then go from there.

Time and effort to reflash, why not buy a 2009 race ECU?

If I were to find myself in posession of a 2008 with a questionable ECU- that's exactly what I would do.

If I had a 2008, I'd concider upgrading to either PCV or a 09 ECU which would allow CO1,2,3 to be adjusted rather than just fb1.

Download Special Parts/assess 2012 catalog here http://www.husqvarna-motorcycles.com/public/documenti/Special_Parts_2012_IT-EN.pdf
Download Parts fiche's here- https://www.halls-cycles.com/Catalog/Halls-Cycles-Husqvarna.aspx then put part # in upper right hand corner

8000H0596 $350 SM/TE 2009 ECU
8000H2003 $278 450 Special parts ECU and Db killer
8000H2004 $278 450 Special parts ECU and Db killer

There are many parts options for the 450/510 still in the special parts catalogs ECU's with top end parts/ exhausts- I don't know if there is a difference between those ecu's or if all those ecu's are the same. THe ECU with db killer is the cheapest route among the special parts kits- and for some reason its cheaper than the 2009 ECU?

For the 2008- the stock 2009 ecu is an upgrade- I don't personally know much about the "race" or Special parts ECU for the 450/510- haven't read into much or haven't seen much.

You have checked about every known issue so it would seem as though the ecu is the next thing to check- I'd see if you can find one to swap in if you haven't to verify before spending the cash- or find a good dealer.

Thanks, that special parts catalog is sweet. I talked to Halls Service for some time the other day through email and phone. He stated they had trouble with the coolant temp sensors that are black and the new ones are white. Mines black, so they are cheap enough to give it a shot as a last resort, ones on the way. You are right I have checked all I can so if that doesn't work Ill have to find an ECU. I might put together a post with all the trouble shooting I have done with ohms reading to help people in the future, when this is resolved. I have learned a lot searching for info and you guys have been a great help!

I have contacted someone with a '10 factory race 450RR ECU.

Am I right to assume that any '08-'10 ECU will work as a plug and play replacement?

The rr is a carb bike the ECU wont work
Have you hooked it up to ibeat to make sure your
settings are wright.

I learned that yesterday about the RR, learning every day..lol...I havent hooked it up to an ibeat yet. The dealer is over 3hrs away. The fact that its intermittent leads me to believe that's its not settings but I could be wrong. My theory is that if it was settings it would be consistently running bad.
Could someone enlighten me about the differences in ECU's like the SMR vs the off road version? Also if I get a one new would I have to get it remapped for power up, or does the lambda plug resistor put it into race mode? Sorry for all the questions but im learning and even with all the knowledge on this site, this info is hard to find.

I would suggest that you get the ibeat, scott Moore from semco
here on CH sells them.
If you have a Husqvarna EFI bike this tool is a must
start from there, If the TPS is off you are not going to make any progress.
