Seems like everyone I know went blue crew. Feel like I'm riding an Italian husky again lol
As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.
When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.
Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.
Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.
Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.
Thanks for your patience and support!
I was thinking of installing a Recluse to reduce engine braking since I'm a 2 stroke rider but then I thought I'd be giving up one of the advantages of a 4 stroke. What's your opinion on recluse vs manual clutch? I think the yz450s feels heavy because they aren't narrow at the fuel tank shrouds and the fat bike makes you think it's heavier than it really is. The 2011 is even wider and only made a bit slimmer when they redesigned the air filter & box. BTW after we got the suspension revalved I thought they were the best forks I'd ever ridden.Just rode one of the crew's brand new YZ450X, very impressive machine that feels very heavy to me, but handles like a champ. Funny bit is that he installed a DR D full pipe and lightweight battery in the interest to lighten the machine and has set about looking at ways to keep er light.
Oh the funny/amazing bit , he did instantly install a Rekluse Core EXP.....when I hopped on he said click it up into 3rd leave it there and go hit the single track. I left the parking spot starting in 3rd and rode a couple miles of single track all the time in 3rd gear like Tommy said......I went to second once by accident. So I was amazed that you could run that thing in 3rd gear from zero to hero speed on the trail. And being in 3rd just kept the chassis so smooth and controlled, it was like butter. BTW Those forks are really "that" good.

I have Cycra on it with braces but no guards. It's the third set of plastics Acherbis and UFO were the first two after the OEM got thrashed. Can't comment on the rekluse clutch but I'd love to try one tho.
To slim the YZ down, Cycra makes a semi decent plastics kit for the yz450f, helps with the slender trim feel!. The down sides are, we can't fit the radiator braces and the air filter (may?) get dirty quicker. And keep the standard plastics for resale.

That bike is making lots of happy desert racers.
Is that the weld above the clutch cover to the left? If so the joint maybe the wrong design for a frame joint. The filler rod can be too brittle too.
