  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

125-200cc Husqvarna SM125 2005 charging problem

Hello!

I have Husqvarna SM125 from 2005. I've had it for 2 years, and rebuilt the whole thing last winter. Now I'm having problems with charging the battery. Battery should be fine, it charges fine with external charger. I have tried different regulator and stator, both were used ones, so I can't be sure about their condition, but sellers told me those are working parts. I can't find any damage from my stator, coil seems to be in good condition. Also, my old stator works on my friends bike.

My flywheel has some scratches on magnet surface, could those affect to charging? Ignition works perfectly. There is two yellow wires coming from stator, no voltage coming there.

Could it be some grounding problem or something? Is there some wires that can be connected wrong? I have triple checked all the grounding wires and other connectors. I have tried other wiring harness, same problem.

Other question:
I attached picture about my speedometer. There is option for tachometer, but it's not connected on SM125 stock, does anybody know how could I connect it and get it working?

Scratches on magnets shouldnt bother it, as the way that works is a gap in the magnets induces a current through the stator coils as it passes like a reverse electro magnet. Or thats what i believe.

Your battery leads are ok not trapped anywhere, check the continuity with a multimeter.
Your batteries hooked up correctly too right? I know it sounds like im accusing you of being an idiot but im not and we have all overlooked simple things.

If your stator charges on another machine its not your stator so that narrows that out.
So just cables battery and rectifyer really left.

Try hooking your mates battery up to yours and see if that charges up? Could of lost the gel inside it or just died.
Good luck.
