  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Husquarna Te310 2011 Starter Issue

Petr Spacek

Husqvarna
Hello, I bought a Husky TE 310 model 2011. Of course, the e-starter is bad... I read the forums from 2012 where the problem is discussed at length. I want to ask if anyone has already solved these problems? I have a new starter motor, but it only spins up to top dead center, but it won't handle any further.
I think it has something to do with valve clearance, but.....
In year 12, a lot of people write there that it's basically a common problem, which I'm not very happy about. Perhaps in 23 someone has already thought of something and can give advice. Thank you in advance Peter

Yes is a usual problem, but only to understand, in pedal kick the engine start fine? Usual the main problem is not on starter motor, is in the starter gears or one way clutch, if one of these parts have problems can cause the overheat of the motor and burn.
My advice is you remove the starter gears and only clutch to ckeck possible damages. Adicional informations please ask!

Kikstart works fine. Now I want to pull the spark plug and try to crank the engine without compression. I checked the bike optically and it seems to be running fine. I used the ratchet wrench to turn the engine quite freely until compression. The starting electric motor is after overhaul, forcing and carbons. The engine revs up after compression and then cuts out.... As if decompression does not work. The question is whether it makes sense to fix it somehow. It's probably a common problem with 2011-2012, I didn't know that when I bought it. I already have a 2023 FE 350 on order. But I'm sorry to give it away just because of the e start problem. Any advice is good. thanks

Hi, usually this kind of problem are not related to the decompression problem, but by the starter gears. The starter gears are made by endless screw, if you have a little imperfections in the teeth the gear / shaft coupling block the moviment. I think can be your problem, in my option you need first ckeck the gears. I assume you already tested it with another battery!

Can be.. but if the engine start good with pedal kick I think is not the origin of the problem.
So I just pulled the spark plug, the engine revs but very hard... I can probably rule out decompression problems. I will start the battery, there is a 12V 6Ah battery. After a few spins without a spark plug, it is KO... while I fully charged it a week ago... After that I will look at the starter wheel and the worm shaft. the engine cranked the ratchet pretty freely even through top dead center. But the problem is with spare parts... is it even possible to get them? and how much will the wheel with the worm cost??

I made progress today. I changed the gap between the starter body and the cylinder and cranked the engine first without the spark plug and then with it. But it still doesn't work very well. I found a missing tight spring in the worm wheel mechanism. It is possible that there was spinning of the gears and the shaft. I need to replace the tight pen.
