  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Husq 310 Te Won’t Start

C Class
Hello,
Please help. My Husq 310 TE 2012, won’t start.
After 5 months of garage (winter/spring) I cannot start my bike.
I’ve charged the battery but, when I push the ignition starter it makes a sound like (click -click) and won’t ignite the engine.
It gives an error Epie on the display screen .
Yesterday was warm outside but I cannot start it.
What seems to be the problem?
It won’t turn up the starter, simply does this click sound.

Any opinion will be helpful.

Thanks

Most likely the decompressor is not activating fully and requires one to go incrementally tighter on the valve clearance. Normally when this occurs starter will click and also kick start may feel locked up. Do a search as this issue has been around for a long time and a simple adjustment has solved this for a majority of people. Sometimes if the engine stops just before TDC you can bump it past and then try a kick or the starter. Just don't lay on the starter button and burn the starter out.

Thanks Johnrg !
I’ll read the sugested post and do some testing. Hopefully this will work.
Btw last year as far as I remember the bike had the same problem but I’ve changed the spark and it finally (after a couple of tries -mostly kick starts) it started.
I have the bike in a remote area and it cannot be taken to the service so, I have to figure it out by myself.

Thanks a lot!

Hey R_Little, nope, not even on kick start.
First of all I’ll try to look upon the spark plug to see if it looks good and gives sparks.
If that won’t work, I’ll try to look on the solution above - valve clearence.

Any other suggestions before I get into it?
Thanks

forget the electric starter for now.

your issue is to get the bike running first. kickstart or bumpstart only until you get things resolved.

spray starter fluid in the intake tract of the throttle body (or if you have a vacuum port, you can rig up a small hose from the spray can to the port).
if the bike starts (or tries to) you have a fueling issue (injector, bad gas, pump, clog, electrics.... something). if it does not try to start, we need to confirm you have spark (doubtful that it's a sheared key- but it's possible).
edit- whoops, I just read it kicks back: we need to look at the flywheel key now. also, this means the rest of your ignition system is okay (and probably your fuel system).

that should keep you busy for a couple of days.

good luck.

Thanks a lot  !
This w-end I will go ahead and empty the remaining gasoline (left by the winter) and put in a new and fresh one.
I will change the spark plug anyway (I have a spare one) and kick it to start. I'll try to make a video also with the starting process, to post it here.
Man, I hope is not the valve or the flywheel. I never opened the inside of the bike, I think that I will encounter some trouble doing it, but I will open it if is not starting  . The starting spray it's good idea! Hope it will make the trick ;)
Thank guys, I'll get back after this weekend.

On electronic ignition sometimes just clicks and sometimes it is trying to start.
On kick start it is trying to start, it kicks back.

Kick back suggests the woodruff key on the flywheel may have sheared.

Check it soon because the kickback may crack the engine case by the starter.

And it started !
I’ve changed the spark plug, the oil, charged the battery, gasoline and sprayed some starting spray on air admission. It starts both the electric starter and kick start.
Thanks guys for the support. I guess it stayed too lobg (6 months) and was getting some moisture inside.

Have a wonderful day!

I have no idea. My guess is that it stayed too long (6months) unused. The gasoline was old. The spark plug (as I reckon) should be changed in 2-3 months period. Even the oil was dirty and the air filter too.
After all the above was serviced, it started (with a little help from the starting spray).
Now I’m starting it periodically.
Cheers
