  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

HUSKY TE510 OIL TYPE ISSUE!!

HI GUYS,

I NEED TO KNOW WHAT S THE BEST OIL TYPE TO USE FOR A HUSKY TE510 - 2009 FOR THIS COLD WEATHER !!
WOULD IT BE OK TO USE MOTUL 15W60 RACING 4T OR JUST A 10W40 ?! I AM NOT DOING ANY RACE BUT I WANT THE BEST OIL IN MY ENGINE. ADVICE ME PLS.

CHEERS,
IONUTZ.

Like you, I want to use the best oil for my bike being that it only takes a liter. Motul, imo, is one of the best. I've used Motul the most but
have used other synthetics such as Moterex, Maxima, Belray, Repsol etc... They're all good but aren't cheap. I personally don't mind splurging
on the expensive stuff for my bike. When it comes to oil, everyone has got a different mindset but I'm sure most will agree that changing it on a
regular basis is the most important thing you can do. Cheers.

Your 510 holds almost 2 quarts, so that helps matters. I have used Mobil1 15w50 for the last 7000 miles on my almost 11,000 mile TE450, even running the coolant dry at one point, the synthetic oil was the only thing that saved the motor.

Always used Mobil1 myself but in the lighter viscositys. Watch getting to heavy on the warm end of the spectrum. These small motors don't have very complex oil pumps/syetems

Not sure where you are from and the temps there but a true synthetic, man-made oil, handles the cold better than any GRP III oil that is made from crude oil ... All crude oils contains paraffin wax and wax is one thing for sure that all the cracking processes for crude oil are trying to remove ... Wax in oil is a problem ESP at cold temps when it tries to freeze ...

A true synthetic, man-made oil, is made without wax so it performs better in colder temps.

The main question is how COLD? Are we talking Alaskan winters or California tropic?
Choosing the best oil has little to do with brand.

Olio lubrificazione motore, cambio, trasmissione primaria
AGIP RACING 4T (10W-60)
I concur with OHR above. Your engine clearances are spec'd for 60 grade-weight oil, so even in colder climates, 50 grade is as low as you should go. OHR uses Mobile 1 15w50 synthetic, which would work great for you too.
