• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

i am having problems setting up the timing and getting a spark on tc 610 2000 model. could someone please help me as i`m about to explode...............

getting a spark was the problem but now the thing has started to spark. but unsure if i`ve set up timing right.i`ve set cam chain gear mark to top and piston at tdc.dose this sound correct.......?? cheers.

No No. The cam chain gear has one dot on it and when the engine is at TDC that dot should point backwards, towards the carb, flush with the cylinder head. TDC is when both cam lobes are facing down and piston is at top, you also have a notch on the flywheel that should face forward against the flywheel cover allen bolt hole.
Hope you get started soon.
Best regards
Erik

ok we have it started thanks erik.....
but i`ve now snapped my kick start shaft and cracked clutch casing, not a good day

Huskys are known to frequently test their owners...
If the engine backfires when you are kickstarting it the shaft can easily break, having the ignition timing in advance can cause this.
Check that the stator is correctly in place(the notch on the stator lines up with the notch on the engine, upwards). Another common fault is that the magnets could come loose in the flywheel and it can mess up the ignition timing. I have also had CDI box failure that had my bike shooting flames back through the carb..
Surrender is not an option.
