• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Husky Swing Arm Decals

Hey HuskyDude....could you do me a favor and hold that decal (if you haven't sold them all yet) up against the tank (over the factory TR sticker) so I can see how close the size is? I'm sure my decals will get here early next week....but I'm just kinda eager to see.

Please refer to post #17
I put our Husky decal over the TR650 decal on the tank and marked how much of the decal would get cut off.

If you, Ken or anyone else has an idea (for a different TR650 decal for the tank) make a rough sketch and let us see it.
If we come up with something I'll post up before we make a decision.

Got my decals today...awesome!! I don't have the bike though...haha. I was maybe going to pick it up this weekend, but a storm is blowing through. 8 hour drive to get it, maybe next week.

I have a rough template for the decal idea that I posted earlier, but have not been successful in getting it onto the computer. If anyone with a Terra knows how to do this "right", I would be happy to send my paper cutout to them for further develolpment. I really do like the design on the TE630 and think it would look terrific on the Terra too.

HuskyDude, can your graphics guy help with this? If so, PM me and I'll mail my stuff to you.

Yeah, me too - It just looked right with the H on top. I didn't even stop to think about the whole crown thing! That's what you get if you hurry!

It's actually supposed to be a gun sight. Just sayin'....

Please tell some of the know it alls on the local motorcycle board (who have probably never even owned a Husky). I pointed this out a few months back and a couple got all out of shape on me about the old crown logo they used several decades ago. I pointed out the logo from like the 1600 or 1700s, but they choose to accept only the facts they choose to accept (ie: ones that prove their point of view).

IMO, the current logo may have been designed as a nod to the gunsight, but it also looks like a crown, which not only gives a nod to older logos, but also their service to the Swedish crown. I feel it represents both.

The offical story is at: http://www.husqvarna.com/us/construction/company/history/
The Husqvarna logotype

The symbol being the Husqvarna logo refers to our gunsmithing history. To the right you see the oldest form as the hallmark of a passed musket, symbolizing the sight over the barrel. You see also the modern version indicating that Husqvarna is still keeping the future in sight.

...And Now For Something Completely Different..

I don't know if I need to spend any more time on another design....That looks fantastic.

My Black panels from Halls should be here soon... I must remember to save a set of decals for myself.

Ok now I only have 3 sets left...

I really like the black panels as well - Could you possibly send me a PM and let me know what they ran?

Vis-a-vis the Gunsight/Crown issue - Back in the 60's and early 70's - I had a Maico sponsorship and a good friend of mine rode for Husqvarna. It was from him that I heard of the 'Crown' logo owing to the Royal Swedish Crown and later, when I worked at a Rod & Gun club where were sold Husqvarna hunting rifles - I heard about the 'Gun Sight' logo. After hearing the comment the other day, I Googled the same article linked above. Like MNB, I think it's nice to think it was one heck of a design for both. Good thing they didn't make it look like a chain saw :-)
