The Orphan has had a couple of months off for a variety of reasons.
I serviced it up before it went into mothballs, and, after a nice long sit it lit right up second kick.
I go so excited over this I just had to ride....so I slapped on a new tag, loaded it up and took off to the mountains.....
Man was that the right call....
Just a bitchen afternoon for a last-call, post-sweep jaunt between the trees before dark.
"Jeepers, it's been a while"........I took a break catching my breath with the bike leaning against a giant Jeffery pine.
It was quiet.
Just the sound of the wind in the trees and a crow softly cawing overhead, the flight feathers on his wings making a velvety brushing sound as they gently beat the air.... I soaked in the moment decompressing from the grinder that is life.
It was truly one of those 'this is why I ride' moments.
I got to eyeballing my Husky and thinkging it's been a little over a year since it came home from the dealer. It's been on some epic adventures with me and has proven to be a trusted steed. $5000.00 for the asking price was well worth it. The bike is stone stock, as delivered, even has the orriginal grips, tubes, pads, chain etc on it. And after at least 45 hours of pounding it's still going strong. The motor flat rips off road and it's quiet. It goes through 8-10,000' of climbing on my normal loop and it's 2.5 gallon tank, w/ reserve, gives me 50 miles of flying.
Me and the lil Husky finished our ride a little before dark as I rode it up the ramp into the back of the truck. I lingered on the tailgate watching the day come to a close....blue sky, gentle breeze, perfect temps. 'Why'd I take so much time off?' I tought. Oh- yeh, right. Life. I'm gonna feel this ride tomorrow.
I oggled the bike some more, filthy from a 2.5 hour romp through the trees and rocks.
It's easy on the eyes, even while dirty, I love the styling of my one-cylinder Ferrari.
Not even a leak, anywhere.
I thought 'It's gonna be a super-ripper when I get a 300 kit for it'. It's worthy and it deserves it.
It's done Alpine trails and Supercross tracks. It aint no LMS bike (that's the WR 300's job
) but it is what it is...and it does it all pretty darn well and likes to be ridden fast. Life's good when you're rolling down the road with a TC in the back and a Cafe Husky sticker on your bumper. I get a lot of these from guys on the road: 
The lil thumper is a trooper. I'm really glad I got it.
And it's got a plate.
