    As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

    When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

    Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

    Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

    Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

i own a 2008 wr250

i have had no issues with the bike ............and still only minor issues now

What the hell is with husky (Canada) and all dealers not being able to get parts??
i cant find anyone locall to me that has an oem top end kit or plastic.

the Ktm is a very comparable bike and has twice the support dealer wise and aftermarket.I truey belive that husky could be in the top 5 and big a big name in canada but with no support why would i buy again:excuseme:

My buddys ride ktms and they also dont have the issues i do with fit and finish either...........or none that i have noticed

why do my clutch and brake cables rub on evrything wearing stuff out?> like the brake cable rubing on the handle bars ? poor engineering?
the motor/tranny is great...just seams like fit/finish was an afterthought

Much negativity as of late. The only thing I know for sure is people are working extremely hard on resolving some issues. I am glad the bike has been working for you in spite of the fit and finish, and of course the extremely important issue of getting parts.

The number of Husky parts needed (read; interchangeable/identical)to keep numerous models and years of Husky's up and running is pretty small compared to other brands. IMO it's a mickey mouse dealer that doesn't stock basic stuff, afterall were not taking about ten's of thousands of dollars here.
Husky has it's parts delivery issues but I've also had buddies wait months and months for KTM and Yamaha parts. I don't think one brand is any better than the other
 
If i needed a part somewhere in the world, I would get on here and put ot an APB to everyone to help me find it. Just saying.

Bitch to BMW Canada about not setting up a distributor for you guys. Husky sells 10% of the bikes KTM does in NA, so less aftermarket. Fit and finish on my Huskys is as good or better than a KTM. Parts? Go back to the first sentence in this post. Sounds like peer pressure got the better of you..... enjoy your KTM and don't let the door hit your ass on the way out.:cheers:
 
husky has had a real big push in australia over the last few years with dealers and parts back up. the only problem i would say is individual dealerships not having good service but you get that in any brand. i have a 05 te 510 that has needed a cam gear for the exhaust cam and new bigend, conrod, piston, gudgeon and have had the parts delivered to me in 2 days and i live 250 km from the dealer. i do have a husqvarna dealer 35km away but hes hopeless but he hopeless with the other brands he sells as well. love my HUSKY
 
KTM then Husky now KTM NEVER again!

My KTM's:

'08 250 XCFW: Overheated so badly and so often it was barely rideable until I installed a KTM fan ($150.00) and after market overflow tank ($45.00). Both items are standard on the Huskys. Otherwise it was a decent, but unexciting bike. SOLD within months.

'08 250 SXF: See above about overheating (only worse if that is possible). Within 1 week of buying the bike I got a call from the dealer that went something like this: "Stop riding the bike now and bring it back ASAP... connecting rods are recalled... connecting rods exploding... yada yada yada." Took bike back. 4 weeks to get parts. Got bike back from dealer with oil leaks galore. Took bike back to dealer for leaks. Got bike back with same leaks... fixed myself. SOLD!

'08 144 SX (son's MX race bike): Within weeks of ownership, began reading about generic 144 SX problems with pistons melting. Verified same info on KTM forums... disproportionate amount of 144's melting pistons. Problem was know by KTM and owners were provided "secret" warranty fixes on low-hour machines. Problem was so well known among KTM buyers, KTM elects to make minor changes to the head design in '09 and call the bike a 150! (even though it's still the same displacement). Thankfully, our bike makes it through the season and is traded at the same dealer for a Honda CRF 250R (Horrible bike in it's own right, impossible to start).

Please, don't get me started on KTM superiority! :thumbsdown:I ran away from the pumpkin patch as fast as I could and have never looked back. The 3 Husky's I own have been bullet-proof compared to my KTM's. Yeah, parts can be a challenge but I'm willing to live with that compared to the trauma I've been forced to endure with KTM.

Husky has been a God-send for us. :notworthy:

I sold my 05 KTM250EXC a couple of months ago. It was a good bike with excellent power and handling. It always ran and never stranded me anywhere....however, it always seemed to have a bunch of nickle and dime problems that I was spending money on. The top end gaskets always sweated, the exhaust dented if you looked at it wrong and after I put a pipe guard on it to solve that problem, the header cracked; I had it welded, then it cracked again right next to the weld, so I had to get an FMF pipe which never cracked. The chain adjusters froze up, CS seal leaked, seal head on the shock blew out, lighting equipment failed....stuff just went on and on. Though it was a better handling and more powerful bike than my lowly KDX220, the little green machine was the one I kept. I ride with a lot of KTM riders and they all seem to have all kinds of problems with their machines. I doubt that I would spend the money for another pumpkin. I just hope that the parts availability problem gets solved with the Husqvarnas. When I first got my bike back in the spring of 07, it seemed like parts were fairly simple to get, but now I can't seem to get even a rear fender for my bike.:(

Husqvarna = Ok so they are having problems with parts at YOUR dealership. Do you own a phone? We know you have a computer. Now, punch in husqvarna on the Google search and hit the dealer button. Dial for parts if you need them now. Or APB this forum. You can always rant about it, but did that get you the part you needed?

My point is that my dealership (which is two miles away from my house) used to be able to order me anything that I needed and get it here within a week. Now, everything that I order is backordered or not in the states. I don't have a problem with the dealership having to order in a part and waiting a week for it. The trouble seems to be that the parts are not available for my dealer to order. I figure if my dealer can't get them, other dealers can't get the parts either. Besides, when my dealer can get the parts, I get really good prices on them.
 
What do you need? I know a place in Ontario that has all the plastic parts in stock and a complete top end kit on the shelf.

There is no question, we CDNs are getting royally boned. That being said, I do have some inside info and know that a "real" CDN Dist is going to be named within 2-3 weeks. They will be handling all the MY10 bikes and parts for Canada and will have a warehouse in Toronto.
 
I can only hope all this will just be "Water under the Bridge" come 2010.:thumbsup:

Right now as I understand it, all Husqvarna dealers in Canada are not recognized as being dealers for 2009...except for Rocher Sales.
That includes Rivercity Cycle in Kamloops who has handle Husky bikes for a long time.
Heck Tom the owner is the one that started me on Huskys...but his hands are tied also over this (No Bikes / No parts) BS. :banghead:
I'm not gonna change brands over a no parts issue, it will come together soon enough.
I'll just wait...and ride my other bikes.:D
Just for the record I've had a 09 WR125 since mid Feb. It has been waiting for parts too.

A bit strident....... If you want help, ask for it. If you want to knock Husky and praise KTM, take it to KTM Talk.
 
My husky broke with 120 miles on it, That was a couple months ago and they still wont even tell me when the parts might arrive. Its not just my dealer, techs directly from husky went to the shop to look at the blown motor and have the parts on order from Itay because none of the parts were available in North America and some of the parts are not available anywhere. The Bike is a sm450r, 2008
 
First off, parts are available if you are willing to pick up a phone.

SW Motarrad in Kelowna are a legit Husky dealer. They can get parts if you want to deal locally, which I encourage.
