    As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

    When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

    Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

    Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

    Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Hi ladies, in searching on this forum it seems women are quite well represented here! I didn't see the standard "ladies check in here" thread, so assuming I didn't miss it, figured I'd start one. Particularly interested to hear how some of you addressed height issues and slow-riding husbands...

So for starters, howdy, I'm Leigh in SW VA and a Husqvarna n00b on a TE450. I gave in and did have it lowered internally a tad such that I can get toes of both feet on the ground at the same time, call me a wimp if you must ;). And the husband used to be faster than me in the dirt, but I have a feeling this TE450 is going to change that :p
 
wooooohooooo! more ladies are always a good thing, but I'm going to need to see some video proof of you kicking your huband's butt on that TE. I will say this though, it's going to give you just about the best chance! Welcome to the fold!
 
Hey girl! Lady rider here too. My Husky is a 2006 510 SMR. I love it! On the dirt, I ride a KTM 250 (320 :)) XCF-W. I really wanted a TE 310, but I came across the KTM loaded out with steering damper, Rekluse, and the big bore. I couldn't pass it up! We recently purchased a TXC 450 for my husband. That one is tall!

I didn't attempt to lower the 510. I just tiptoe it at lights. The KTM, however, I did lower a bit. I did it by sliding the forks up in the clamps a tad and then I shaved the heck out of the seat! Its practically down to the plastic seat pan. I don't sit down much, so the firmness doesn't bother me, but when I do sit down I usually want my feet near the ground for some reason or another. It has made a huge difference in my riding confidence in technical stuff.

And back to the Rekluse. It may not shorten the bike, but it does make a big difference in some of those same areas where you wish you had a shorter bike and could touch. Among other awesome characteristics, it keeps the bike from stalling. I used to have problems in off camber turns around trees (I'm sure you know the ones i'm talking about). I'd goof it up, stall it, then tip over because I couldn't touch until it was too late to save it. The Rekluse prevents the stalling so the tip never happens. :) And, without the nervousness about the stalling and tipping, I am much better in those turns.
 
I love my TE450. Will probably lower it someday an inch maybe. Don't want to compromise the ground clearance, because there are a lot of rocks down this way.

All my dirt bikes are a bit too tall for my 5 ft 5 in height, except for the CR85Expert which is about perfect for my size.:D

well my 14yo daughter Allie has been aboard the TXC450, and lately always asks me to ride the Husky,,,because she "likes the power"****************************************! Its very fun to watch, my older girl at 5.4 is not up for the height of the 450. Is there a Husky Girl future?? I say yes there is! Enjoy the ride girls!!! R
 
Howdy, gals! I'm a Husky lady...and I ride a Husky, too:lol:

I'm 5'1" with about a 27" inseam (I can get it to 28" if I wrap the tape around my foot and tuck it under:lol:) and have my KTM 450 EXC and my CR125 lowered almost 1.5" via internal suspension mods. I lowered my SM610 a tad, too, when I got the suspension revalved and resprung. Of course, whatever I gained by doing that was lost the minute I put a set of 17" knobbies on it :lol: I can't get both toes down on any bike I own, including my street bikes, but it doesn't seem to bother me much.

I've never had to worry much about my husband being slow. He was a successful roadracer when I met him over 20 years ago. The shop I worked for sponsored him and gave him a bike, and I provided him with a steady stream of parts every Tuesday:lol: He decided to try dirtbikes one day and knew I rode and asked if I wanted to go riding. Heck yeah! I smoked him good, and continued to do so for a very short while. I enjoyed it, knowing it wouldn't last long...and it didn't :( I taught him how to ride and it was a great investment in my future happiness. We ride together all the time now and just have a blast together.

My doesnt use online forums, but she does have an 08TE450 and she loves it. Has balls of both feet on the ground. Rear spring is too hard and will change it sometime in the future.

Next mod for her will be a rekluse. We do heaps of bush riding, loads of tough hills and i think the rekluse would be a killer for her hill climbing.

My better half Jeannie is on as a member yet she spends so much time on a computer at work it's hard to get her to think of it as "fun" and log into here. Working on changing that.:thumbsup:
She rides a 07 TE250 and my 06 TE450. She is not long in the legs and as long as she doesn't need to down hill dab she is ok. Looking to send her 250 bits off to Les for a 1" drop and revalve. My 450 legs came back from Les and are simply great now. She road races and does landspeed racing...so as long as I can beat her on the trails it's ok and a nice ballance..otherwise I'd never see her!:busted:
