  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

125-200cc Husky Factory 144 kit coming

What is all that white stuff around you there Norm? Sweet looking sled!

Where did Kelly get 2 kits from then? Were they Husqvarna 144 kits from the U.S.?

I have no idea about Kelly's kits, maybe he'll fill us in. Love the sled, but all that snow is melting fast!

I got my 144 kit with the bike last friday. It's all installed. It's the official husky kit that my dealer ordered straight from the italian factory.

It came with the piston, ring, cylinder, head, 2 orings, a small rubber seal for the powervalve mecanism. I also got 2 new valve for the powervalve, not sure if it was included with the 144 kit or came with the 125.

Up to now it's been the easiest bike to work on I had my entire life. I did the whole top end without removing the fuel tank, radiator, carb etc..

As far as comparison, I haven't tried the 125, I installed the 144 the first day I got it. It sound crisp and agressive. It pulls really hard on top, very surprising for me considering I rode 450s for the past 5 years and had a CR500AF since 2001. We I took the powervalve out of the stock cylinder, I noticed the bolts adjusted at the top of the slot like some people here suggested. I left it that way. I haven't noticed a 'midrange' bog, but the bike comes to life a bit later than what I would call 'midrange'. I need to learn how to shift

One of my friend have a YZ134, one have an hopped up 2004 honda CR125, and another one have a 2008 KTM144 (we are a bunch of 2stroke lovers). Next time we go ride, we'll make comparisons. So far I just love this bike and can't believe the sweet handling and responsiveness of the engine.

I'll post a picture in another thread..

OMG, I didn'T post these myself, but yeah! It's a brand new 2010 with a husky 144 kit. My dealer told me it was BO, and not expect it anytime soon, 2 weeks later he received a little box containing the kit. I was jumping up and down. Unfortunately I didn't try the stock bike, but comparing it to my mate's YZ134 is fair in my opinion, since his bike is very good and made me fall in love with 125 2strokes again.

I tried to buy the OEM kit from Kelly for a couple of months and with no luck. Instead I bought a cylinder kit for a pre-07 CR125 and sent it away to George at uptite Husqvarna to turn it into a 167. It will be either my primary cylinder set up or at the very least my back up in case of catastrophe. I think Husky really dropped the ball on this as I would have been very happy to have the OEM kit.

So isnt the 144 enough to haul your 200 lb arse?:D

Yes it is more than enough to haul my fat ass. I just like to experiment with all the possibilities and I will definitely keep my 144 top end either way.

Mine is still stock except for PV spring kit, not interested in a light switch powerband riding tree banging tight rutted steep single track here in the Tennessee mountains. Mikuni is working fine though.
I might be tempted by the 144 kit though, just not sure I need one.

Even better news. I just got an email from the CDN Dist offering 2010 CR/WR144s to their dealers. They are special order only and must be booked before May 1 to get one.
