  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

125-200cc husky cr 125 engine to replace sms engine ? possible ?

hi i have a husky sms 125, and have just bought a cr 125 engine is it possible to just switch the engine out and use the cr back plate and use my sms stator and flywheel, or am i going to see problems ?

As far as i know the cr ignition will not fit- also the crankshaft should be different- so your rotor will not fit right- but maybe thats only because i have a 1998 CR a 2004 WRE and a 2013 WR engine to compare with.
Maybe there are some years wich will be interchangeable.

year 98 is the older type of engine and is different
everything from 2000 should not have a problem to change out the ignition systems in the cases

the issues could be more on the oil pump/ power valve actuation.

Ok the powervalve system looks the same on both bikes mechanical pv
, I did think I could just change out the stator, my stator back plate doesn't have any holes to advance timing so hoped I could use the cr back plate.

Can run premix if need be

Wasn't sure as yeah someone else has just changed cr topend and the sms and cr ports are 2mm in hight difference, and his engine run backwards so thought the timing on engine where totally difftrent

Port height have nothing to do with the whole ignitions system

to my knowledge the motors also spin in the same direction

I am pretty sure that the SMS ignition is a simple bolt over affair and that's all to it

at the same time I would also change the carburetor
