• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

We are processing the paperwork now. It will be 50 state legal. Being that these models are all new and the fact the both agencies at the federal and California state level are woefully understaffed and frankly one step above DMV levels of service there could very easily be delays......but not on our account.

Sweet. :)

I realize these things are extremely difficult, time consuming, and problematic so there could be delays.

But the intent is to get the plate.

Glad you brought that up. The AMA rules require a 400 unit minimum in order to be homolgated. Short of changing the getting the AMA to change the rules(which we are working on) we could be in a position to not get our bikes homolgated again as last year.

There's gotta be more than 400 2010 TC250 and TC450's in the U.S..
No?

Engine still even has BMW markings. I can not see any external difference in engine. ..

PSSSSTTTT...let you in on a little secret....your riding re-badged Cagivas since 1988. No one complaining. In fact the elepohant and Cagiva were cast in MANY 1988-1990's parts and some still today.....its all good.

The production engine will say Husqvarna.

I like the MV Agusta stickers on some of my bikes.

I love the look of this bike in all black and think the fenders look great.
It would look mint with monster graphics on it. Keep up the good work husky!
TE350 please with bigger tank and usual trail bits like key ignition and fuel light etc

Not hard to believe at all.... I'm not sure my dealer has stocked or sold a TC since the TXC was introduced. I do know he'd be glad to order a customer one, but very little MX in his area.

That bike looks friggn AWESOME! :applause::applause::applause:...it does have some KTM stylings to it. Regardless, looks great

This comment was from one of the magazines....
"There is an inverted shock linkage that retains the ground clearance of the linkageless design but accelerates the progressiveness of the shock as the swingarm moves. The disadvantage of this design is that they are still using a shorter amount of stroke compared to a more conventional linkage.
....
^they're^ almost making it sound like Husky is trying to reproduce the famed "KTM kick" of past years KTM suspension. I have no idea what to make of this linkage but I'm really reallllllly interested in it. I hope it works fantastically.

why would you say that?
If a Kayaba can fit there, a TTX can fit there.
they are not one size fits all

Have you looked at the head of a TTX shock? Two adjuster and a fatter res on the TTX's and those close up photos don't show a whole lot of room to spare, but perhaps it's just the angle of the pic. ( and yea I'm a TTX shock whore, not so much their cartridges)

I'm very happy with the BMW power on a 09 G450X, after a PCv it's got gobs of useable power everywhere! It doesn't loose a drag race on loose terrain and the CS maitenance is different, but far from impossible and I'm actually pretty quick at it these days! Don't fear it, front sprocket change only requires an additional 10 minutes at most if you know what you're doing.

As for simple maintenance issue, valve cover access is almost as easy as it ever was, exhaust valves use finger followers just like HSQ and intakes have cam over.

G450X's engine is SMOOTH**************************************** I wish I had an audio recorder when I heard Scot's (aka Relic's) first impresion of the G450's engine over the phone, I had to laugh and return some oof the ribb'n I got for letting my TXC go after I got spoiled with the G450's engine.

Now the whole reason the G450X got the bad reviews was a rushed to market tuning of the rear Ohlins. The 45mm Zokes were not to blame! But the internal construction of the rear Ohlins combined with a horrible BMW press launch sealed the 2009's fate in the USA at least. 2010 they sorted it out and also addressed the torque limited assy so all's good looking forward!!

Anyhow, all's good and really Loki g

I have to eat some crow too as I know I gave some crap about the G450x. look forward to trying this bike out.

Cheap and easy way to dispel rumors and innuendos would be a video showing how easy it is. Does not have to be well done or anything, just a camera phone with several 10 second clips showing the process.

I am absolutely convinced, based on all the communication I have received, that the 'how to' check the valves and re-jet carb tutorials I made have made several people finally decide to get a Husqvarna.

Scot,

Thanks so much for your time and effort to come on here and answer so many of our questions. I have always been one to applaud forays into the unknown and new. I may be a 2 stroke guy but the new 450 has many new ideas that I find intriguing and I would be ashamed of myself if I was dumping on the new bike before it has even seen the light of day.

I face the same negativity every time I try to make improvements on the face of a course that is imbedded into the memories and phsyc of my members. Fortunately after many years of improving their experience they tend to give me the benefit of the doubt now and wonder what I will be improving next. I would hope that once BMW builds up the same kind of track record of support for innovation and improvement the "members" here will be more accepting too. In the mean time keep up the good effort and oppinion and sales will follow.

Then I think everyone should go out and buy some! :)

Best idea I heard all day, Coffee!

Actually its kind of funny how I hear/read all these complaints and criticisms from people all the time that have no idea about how the m/c business is actually built, the relevant market sizes, the rules and regulations. Outside the big 4 Japanese(and even some of them are very close to the 400 unit number this year and only because they offer just one version of their offroad competition models where as we offer a minimun of three) and KTM(again just barely) meet the minimun homolgation number all the other smaller OEM's are locked out of the sport. We are fighting like hell to get the number lowered to 100 which makes much more sense. In any event stay tuned we aren't giving up getting the TC250 homologated.

What are you refering to 50 state homologation? If so we never dropped the ball? Your splendid feedral govt and the state of California dropped the ball through their own deficiencies. We filed the paperework on time the same way and on the same schedule as years past. Both agencies are back logged because of low budgets and staffing. Ever done this yourself? Know any shortcuts Einstein? Perhaps you deal with another federal beuracracy than we do if so please pass your contact info along.

Hi Scot,
Eintsein here. I was actually referring AMA homolgation. Because many of us enthusiasts require gobbs of information about our bikes rather than just being satisfied riding them, we turn to the vast knowledge available on the internet. Our mistake is we often take the information we find as the truth, when it may only be partial truth. A couple years back Derek Costela's sponsorer's tried to enter a TC450 in an AMA National event. Long story short we were led to believe HVA dropped the ball. Sorry, we were fed the wrong info we assumed there were over 400 units in the US.

ps
I appreciate ALL you have done for the brand and am more than satisfied that you take the time to participate in this forum.

The 2011 TC250 will be an improved version of this years bike. The main improvement will be more power and fuel injection. I am the Marketing Director for Husqvarna North America and before that I was VP of Marketing and in charge of racing and model policy for the U.S. for KTM for 20 years.

Scot

I take this to mean that there won't be radical styling changes on the 250's for 2011? ie. along the line of the prototype 450...

If so, thank god. It's just too far of a leap from the current beautiful designs that have drawn people like flies to a fresh steaming pile. I'm always having people come over to me and ask me about my Husqvarna and that they love the looks of them. I have probably semi-directly or indirectly sold 30-40 of these bikes over the past 3 years because of that.

The new bodywork design doesn't appeal to me at all and if they don't address the maintenance/service issues incl. ease of access for valves, sparkplug, CS sprocket, fuel capacity etc., it's a total deal breaker for me.
Honestly, I don't mean to offend anyone, but the new body work on the prototype looks to me like they hired some guy that was learning Origami and gave him a KTM and BMW to base the design on.
It just doesn't have the sexy passionate design that Huskies have become known for. My 07 TE 250 has always drawn lot's of people over at events and camera shots from people passing on the freeway. My 09 TXC will do the same.
I just don't see that happening with this new design. From where I stand it says "I have all zee passion of a german accountant'.

Sorry, I'm just saying how I feel, and not trying to offend.
