• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

The "administrators" at the Gulag dig it too. Makes lice outbreaks and other disease related occurances minimal.

I understand your concern but really I don't see the location being any real problem from the stanbdpoint of collecting mud. I mean how many times after your finished riding do you see a big pile of mud sitting right on the rear of your seat. It happens I guess but not that often.

I see it as a problem. This is after I cleaned some of it off. My TXC and that handsome fella is your truly.:)

Good point Hammer. Thanks for the pic!

Now you believe me :notworthy:

Guess I'm just ahead of the Husky curve hehe

Bobby, trust me when I say we have already taken what BMW started and developed it leap years beyond what you have been riding. Our version of the motor is even better than yours.

I do appreciate the fact that you have been pointing out the virtues of the G450X when it was extremely unpopular to do so. Thanks for never backing down and for being so steadfast in sharing your experience. Your a good man!

By the way, as I said in a previous post and was confirmed again yesterday in a phone conversation with the editors, the 2010 G450X is one helluva a bike(according to the press). Please don't everyone start bashing me for relaying this information. I'm just the messenger. Its still all up to you to decide.

Our testing with the current BMW G450X shows that with a 13T countershaft sprocket the bike has an extremely good 1st gear, very useable for tight trailk conditions and still has a top speed of 103mph!! The gear ratios on our current 450/510s are so far off in terms of being too narrow that I really look forward to the gear ratios on the new engine.

Any idea when the tech specs are to be released? I'm quite curious.

edit: you ad is up!

I'm really not loving the fact that I would have to duct tape my new $10,000 bike every time I need fuel but that's just me.:banghead:

I see guys with duct tap over their quick fills all the time at races. I've ridden with several KTM 690's that have the rear cap and I haven't noticed it to be an issue.

The official release date for tech info will be at the worldwide press launch in July

Which means the information will be.... oh never mind. :p

It does sound like a more versatile gear spacing than the existing non-610 bikes!

Scot,

With all the work and resources that Husky/BMW is investing into their new bikes, what are the plans as far as extending the dealer network into the large barren areas that exist now? Will you be offering current BMW dealerships incentives to pick up the Husky line or will you be trying to develop new dealers in these areas? While myself and a couple of friends purchase long distance, many of our budies would be joining the brigade if we had at least a semi-local dealer. I get a pretty consistant comment about what a great bike to bad there isn't anywhere to buy one.

We are working very hard to expand our dealer network. We realize that it is essential to get more dealers in areas that we currently do not have represention. If you know of any good candidates that are in your area and would like to pass along their contact info feel free to do so.

We are not locked in to setting up existing BMW dealers as Husqvarna dealers. We take each application on a case by case basis. The deciding factor is if the dealership is clearly interested in the off-road market and is passionate about our brand.

During these tough economic times it is not an easy assignment. Many dealers are struggling just to survive and of those that are getting by many of them don't have the extra cash to invest in a new line. We have had some great successes in the last year with a great new dealer in Salt Lake City and one in Simi Valley.

Feel free to make suggestions on candidates that would be good for your local market.

Thanks Scot,

I will do some politicking with a couple of local(Western Montana) off road dealers to gage interest and I will send you a PM on what I find.

whats the word on the smr version?
motorcycle.com says the u.s. g450x makes 'a solid 51 hp'. so with the added 8hp found napping somewhere, its going to make 59hp?

if there is a smr, and the exhaust are split for noise, can they please not weigh a ton like the '09 ?

51 hp seem pretty optimistic. Seems like 45 would be more in line.

that site claimed 11 hp over the euro version, idk anything about the bike, i seen them at the local bmw dealer and they looked cool, but if there were probs with them i dont think i'd be the first in line to buy the husky version, till we see how reliable it is.

around 45 plus 8 is prolly 2-4 more than my '09, in an assumedly lighter bike..i'm in

That's because we've never had a Husky with Keihin EFI.

Scott it's good to have you on here, because you are deterring my skepticism with your every post.

I bought my '08 TE with the intent on it being a good race bike, but that didn't work out. Luckily the WR has turned into that for me, and I wish I'd bought one ten years ago.

But, I hope that this new bike can turn out to be what I wanted the '08 TE to be, a capable racer that I can also ride on the road, from trail system to trail system and still be competitive at the races.

Why would you have ever thought an 08 TE was a racer? It was the weakest of the TXC \ TC models ... And a TXC is not a track racer either .... Suspension is too weak for jumps...

This new bike does 103 mph .. so it is street ready ... and we already know it is a racer :) My 883 Harley is a 5 speed and it only does 100MPH with the wind at its back :) So I'm not racing this bmw when I see it on the road :0 )

Here is a link to a 08 Husky racer... It placed 3rd in EU in one of the SX seasons recently ... and others are having good race results on it also ...

These guys liked the racer model ... I read it from time to time to feel good about Huskies :)

http://www.motorcycle-usa.com/135/1854/Motorcycle-Article/2008-Husqvarna-TC-450-Bike-Test.aspx

Yep, the WRs \ CRs were very good bikes ... I wish I could have kept my 02 CR250 ... Almost bulletproof bike ...never let me down in GPNF during 6+ years of riding ....

I was thrilled to find out about the new dealer in Simi Valley (Moorpark actually :D) This place is right in my backyard, no need to drive into LA or Orange County now...
