  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Husky 2013 TE310 R sprocket HELP !!!

Hi all . So I'm finding out the husky Red's are hard to get parts for . Even from a local dealer in PA. I have bought now 2 front sprockets from different places and they both dont fit . I have found 1 and its a 12tooth and the bike is to slow on the highway . Got another question also will a 14tooth fit on the bike and not hit the guard by the case ? I ordered a 14t from partsgaint it came saturday and it does't fit to big counterchaft. I can find tons of rear sprockets but front is a problem. Any help be great.

Ihave found the OEM 13 tooth front and a two tooth increase in the rear is a pretty outcome (think its 51 teeth from memory)

xlite counter shaft sprockets are different and there are no crossover with other huskys AFAIK. But there is usually not a problem sourcing them either.

My '14 TE310R came with a 14 stock; I've been running a 12 tooth renthal for a couple years (Renthal part #479-520-12GP)

[edit: whoops, my bad: my stock sprocket was a 13 tooth; but the rear was 40. sheesh)

I have had good luck with Lojaks Cycle in Tarentum.
Find the part number and give them a call 724 226 3727

yeah, I was looking at Pro-X... they claim they go to 15 tooth sprockets for the xlite.

(I should point out for new xlite owners that xlite counter shaft sprockets are rare. And if you find 'em, for the most part you're only gonna find 13t & 12t. if you see spec's that say the sprocket also fits other husky- run like hell, 'cause they don't know what they're talking about. the good news is that rear sprockets are the same as most huskys for a couple of decades now.)

great, if it's true. Might be a stock photo, but on one of those ebay BIN auctions, they had 13 splines in the center which is what xlites have; most huskys have 12. So I'm hopeful because Pro-X seems to know what they're talking about.

X-Lites:
22mm shaft dia, sprocket is 5.8mm wide, 13 splines (other huskys: 25mm, 11mm, 12)

I do not think a 15T will fit. I heard the reason husky did not release the 14T was because of how close to the engine case it runs, there was supposedly some engine damage occurring on some of the early bikes.

I would not be surprised if you were right on both accounts.

yeah, there's not a huge issue with getting a 13 tooth... or even a 12 tooth which is $3.50 more ?? https://www.ktm-parts.com/8000A7126.html (both part numbers are known; look up at the first few posts)

but the issues is whether a 14 tooth is available (Pro-X claims to have 12-15 tooth) and whether it will fit clearance-wise... which is the big question. I did manage to find a Husky part number for the 14 tooth (8b00 a7126) but it looks like it's been dropped.

Rancher1 heard that husky had problems and dropped it; I always listen to him.

Husky and Renthal only have 12,13t; JT only has a 13 tooth. PBI claims to have 12,13- but really, they don't have any at all that will fit xlites.

I'm very happy with 12-52t ...up until 4th gear. Top cruising speed is about 42mph (top speed is probably 65-70).

I'd like to try a 14 tooth if I ever have to do any road work, like, say Lee Vining to Bodie. I'm hoping it fits- on the counter shaft AND clearance with the clutch slave/case saver/cases.

I guess the big take away for xlite owners is to be careful when you're ordering a counter shaft sprocket. If a retailer is selling cs sprockets they claim fits xlites and also other huskys- nope.

hey, if you ever have an old-man trail ride/get-together in the Easten Sierras, LMK. I'll bring the cheap bourbon.

later,
scott

Well, I got a 14t sprocket. I did not mount it up, but I compared it with the 12 tooth I have on the counter shaft (and a 12 tooth and 13 tooth I have in the shop].

The good news is that its gonna fit. The current 12 tooth has 7mm of clearance; the radius increase of 4mm with the 14 tooth means I should have a whooping 3mm clearance. I don't know if a 15 tooth will fit in there, but if it does there is probably only gonna be 1-2mm of clearance left... and it is NOT the case saver that's the limit here.

In fact, that's the bad news: the Brembo slave is not totally protected by the case saver. The cast cylinder is very exposed. In essence, the slave will be taking the brunt of any chain that's thrown. I might consider mounting the slave with a long stud- and piling a bunch of nuts on it; for a bit of extra protection.

Also, I am considering putting a small thin strip of steel over this area (I'd use epoxy foam to hold it and act as an impact cushion). This might save the day if a rock got caught or a chain got thrown.

Did the xlites have Magura slave cylinders at any time? 'cause this exposure seems like a strange oversight.

Looks like the chain would hit the bottom of case saver with the 14?!

Naw, it's just the POV... I think.

I'll take another pic when I'm back in there. The case saver is above (to the outside) of the outside edge of the chain in that area; the first picture gives a slightly better POV but it's still hard to see.

The casting bump for the clutch slave cylinder is still the closest thing to the chain- closer than the case saver. WTF :excuseme::banghead:
