• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Husaberg on fire

Husqvarna
Pro Class
Just read on TT under the exotic section that hussaberg are bringing in 2 FI 2 stroke models for 2011 (a 230 and 370). They will also have a tilted engine and no expansion chamber. Also major upgrades for the 4 bangers as well.
They are certainly not standing still.

I read that too! I want one. No, I want two, one of each two stroke! In the current climate, you've got to hand it to Katoosaberg for developing a brand new two stroke! To me, this says that the future is bright for us two stroke enthusiasts. I'm kind of glad that it's the Euro brands who are leading the two stroke trend.

At least Yamaha hasn't dropped the YZ two strokes. Sure seems like Honda couldn't wait to get rid of them though...

If the production model is as trick as I think it will be, then I will buy one. Wish it was a Husky but they aren't going to do anything like this for a couple of years. I am on borrowed time riding wise so every year counts.

Walt,
I'm thinking you'll have to wait at least another year... ScottyR said in the other thread, that '11 Husy's will just be blue KTM 2 strokes for Euro consumption only. If you want to fill in the time.... You might want to try an Eric Gorr 156 bored and stroked motor for your '09 WR144. A friend was talking to Eric about options for his son's bike. They run a FBF 135 and a EG 144. Eric is thinking 155 or 156 is the optimum displacement for the Husky 125 motor.

Wally I hear you on the borrowed time thing At 54 and still doing all the AMA National Hare and Hounds and driving all over the west toget there ,plus having my friends kids in the am class making bets as to how far into the race it will take to catch me Then me not having the speed to past them back i am now starting to relise i am one of those old guys old and tired but still having fun

Norman,

Damn CRS. I remember that now, I just get excited by the mere mention of a DI 2T. I love the way my 144 runs now and couldn't really ask for more from it. I have an older cylinder at Uptite so George can do his 167 mod. It will be very interesting to report on how that turns out. I will then have two cylinders that I can swap onto the bike as needed. Stroking is probably optimal but not the direction I want to go with my little WR.

Ajaxauto,

You are the bomb, so just keep on racing.

I also read this also about the 2 stroke. I believe its still in the rumor stage. The first article that came out about the Husaberg two stroke was on April 1st.....(April Fools Day). Was shall see.

Maybe you have more time than you think.....?

The old fella in the white open face helmet is 75- out for a hare scramble -

I know for a fact that the motors exist, it is just a matter of if/when they actually see production. Dont count on seeing them in 2011. 2012, maybe.

Scotty,

Thanks for clearing that up. I still think that it is going to be very trick once it does hit the production line. Maybe Husky will feel a little heat to move up their own new generation 2t's or at least a redesign of the 250/300 so that it fits in the new chassis.
