  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Howdy, new guy

Howdy all, been lurking here for a while, now a 2012 te511 owner, I'm sure these have been asked many times but,
I am lowering bike, taking 1" out of seat, front and rear springs will be done as well.
will changing to a different tire make any difference, maybe 1" all so?
and what the heck is the deal with the BOGUS kick stand, I see many of you have mod'ed it.
Any info on lowering would be of great help:) Thanks Chas

Thanks for the info. I had my seat reshaped-cut yesterday, picked up almost an inch on that alone. Called race tech as mentioned here and have a set-up coming that can lower it another 2" if I want to. Can't wait to set it up next week....

indeed, only good for 2010. I contacted Koubla last week to ask if there was one in the works for the new 449 / 511's and they have no plans to produce one.

The '12 is already lowered a bit from the '11. Given the unusual top-of-swingarm linkage I doubt Kouba will ever make a link. You could probably get a suspension guy to do internal shock spacers to lower it more, or a bit shorter spring.

I had my shock shortened 4mm when it was being re-valved ('11 te 449) it dropped the bike a decent amount. I also raised the forks in the tripples so there's two lines showing. I like the way the bike feels a lot more this way.

I had mine lowered 2" internally, you won't regret it. Shop around on prices from the local shops though. One place wanted $800, the guy that did mine only charged $325.
