    As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

    When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

    Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

    Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

    Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

How to clean throttle body?

My 2010 TE 450 (power up kit) has run a reasonably normal A/F ratio for the last 7000 miles, but since drowning it in muddy water (the engine was not running when it went in) the bike is running very rich- the tail pipe is very sooty, and the plug is black. It still runs the same, and the fuel consumption not much worse.
I assume the sensors in the throttle body need cleaning- has anyone done this and with what?
I was thinking of using MAF cleaner, or electrical contact cleaner.

Another question- ibeat here in the UK is very expensive, around £750, so cannot justify the cost, and the nearest dealer is 100 miles away.
Is the Semco version of ibeat the same as the genuine one, and are there any outlets in the UK to purchase this, or will I have to order it direct from the US?
 
Here's a pic of my left side taken off, you'll need a security Torx, with the hole in the middle. I can see how some mud up in here could mess up the data going to your ECU, MAF cleaner sounds good, I'd use some, and compressed air.

you could use an old tooth brush for a light scrubin, throttle plate cleaner would be fine. just a dab of di-electric grease will make the connectors happy

Well, it was all clean inside. I cleaned it all the same with some electrical contact cleaner, did a 60 mile night ride, and it's still running rich.
Time to get it on ibeat.
