  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

How tempermental are these carbs?

Husqvarna
B Class
Bought a '06 te510 last fall, ran OK. This spring would not idle so I removed needles and jets and replaced with correct ones (carb with JD kit was setup for wrong altitude), ran perfect all summer with the exception of floatbowl needle valve not sealing properly (had to make sure petcock was shut off). Have not been on it for 2 1/2 weeks and back to the same deal, will not idol (backfires), when warmed runs ok mid and high end but idles fast (until I drag out the clutch to lower idle then it idles down) when I turn it off it pi$$es on the floor. Is it just pi$$ed that I didn't ride it for a while or is it a sticking float problem (would that cause low speed and\or idle problems?), Thanks for any reply's

Clogged pilot circuit? I drain the floatbowls on all my bikes as soon as I come home from a ride. I use stabilizer in the fuel and the gas stays good in the tank. However I have found that the gas in the carb turns green and smelly after as little as one week.:excuseme:

I've got an 06 TE510 & have never had a carb issue . Had JD kit installed by my dealer before I even picked it up. Never drained the carb, used stabilizer over winter & ran the bike until I was sure stabilized fuel was going through the carb. Shut off fuel valve & it would start great months later :excuseme:

Hope you get the issue figured out

I have been using Stabil Marine never had issues with my other bikes, I am thinking I should get a new float bowl pivot pin, needle & float seal (stop the pi$$ing) give it a good cleaning again, damm it was running so good. thanks

I've jetted.... maybe 10? TE/SM 2006/7 bikes. They worked out great.

While the most temperamental was a SM510 with a Leo Vince exhaust system on it, even that is still being used as I left it as far as I know.

Sea level to 8K feet, 45F to 100F. The fuel screw needs some adjusting for varying conditions but the jetting was at least fairly smooth and usable.

It sounds like you know what you are doing. Personally I always use Stabil.
