  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

FE/FC How many km from tank of fuel on 501?

bowser

Husqvarna
AA Class
I had full tank on sudnay and bike ran out at 101km. I was sure it would have gotten 120km.
riding was a lot of single and ecu has been remapped

Seems a lot for a 501.
I never had the fuel light on so I don't really look at it much as mostly I have plenty of fuel left compared to other bikes in the ride.

I know. I read here about all this fantastic mileage people are getting, and my buddy on his '14 500exc gets about 45-50mpg but I seem to be averaging 35-38 mpg so far. Granted, I've only got 22 hours on the bike, and it should get better, but still.

From my guessing, I get about the same if not slightly better than your buddy on the KTM. And it didn't take much running in to get there, it's basically always been this economic.
At 22hrs they are run in and loosened up so if it stays this high I would look in to it.
It's part of the reason why I don't really know what the fuel consumption is as I never have to worry about it.
I run standard EU map, a few holes in the airbox cover, the 2 stroke airfilter cage (no mesh) and the cone crap and flame arrester we get in the EU type exhaust here removed, that's basically it.

Done a short ride the other day. About 12km each way on the road (100km/h speed almost all the way) and the rest of the 94 km off road with a mix of slow and faster pace. Hot conditions of about 32C.
Tank was filled and odo reset when I left.
When I returned I took these 2 pictures, the level on the tank is had to see but I put a little line on the pic.
I used about 1/3rd of the tank so all up I can probably do close to 300km on a tank.

Ride ya loop twice BS for scientific research reasons(c how much left after 2 laps 188km)! :)

Think you'll find tank holds lot less in wings than up top. Looks full but thin in that area

I have to agree here. I had the tank off to do the valves and like you say it's deceiving. The top contains the most fuel.
So yes, my guestimate was very optimistic.
I'll fill it up measured one of these days and give a more accurate estimate.
I'm of now eating that humble pie that I saved for a day like this.....

The most accurate way to measure your fuel usage is to fill it up, ride and then measure how much you PUT IN at the bowser or fuel container. Impossible to get a very accurate guess from a weird geometrical shape like those fuel tanks . Then use that number to divide by your milage. More pie mate, I reckon the number would be more like 150km tops :P

Always more pie...
I did 110 km the other day and there was a fair bit left. It was a slow ride as I was on my own and didn't want to do anything stupid.
Found some nice tracks.
