  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

125-200cc How hard is the 2012 WR 125/144 to start?

Hello,
I just put a deposit on a new 2012 WR 125. I am a bit concerned about starting it. It's been almost 15 years since ACL reconstruction on my right knee and arthritis has set in. How hard is the WR 125 to start? Does it have a lot of compression? My last bike was an E-Start TE 450. I really don't want another 4 stroke. Would I be better off getting a 2012 TXC 250 because it has the E-start? Price is about the same between the WR and the TXC.
Thanks, Chris

Other than the kick starter being small they are very very easy to kick. I like the little Husky 2-strokes myself as I have the 2008 CR125/WB165. I like the light weight and simple cheap maintenance.

and a GIANT plus for me, is the easy bump-starting... I have good legs / knees still, but still bump start everywhere I get a chance.

Very easy, easier than anything without the Ebutton. And, I'm 100% ACL-free lost the left one in '02 and my right one in may '11. They are over-rated!

Ones I temporarily buggered up my knee 3 years ago on a ride I was happy that i could start it with my hand.

There was know way of another way of starting
limped home 35 KM in the bush with absolutely no power in my right leg.

1 hand all it takes to get you going on these these motors.
