    As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

    When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

    Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

    Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

    Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

this is a touchy thread, but how bout a place we can post ebay, Craiglist and other forum buyers and sellers to avoid.
now keep in mind,...personal issues, flames, ect are a no no...
but...example...someone buys a bike, doesnt pay for it, or trys to return it, steals parts off it.
or, you buy a bike or part, and you dont get it, its junk, the seller wont make good...ect.
we are a small tight group, id like to have a place we can see the ones to avoid...
i have a few experiances, its nice to have more info and tools to keep us all safe from the net.

I doubt that's possible, it could be consider slander, we've all dealt with our problems of shady seller, it's what ruins our fun/sport. Your/our best defence is to talk to other people
who has dealt with the vendor or person & ask how there experience was.

Well let's see

A) What is transaction interference and what have you signed in user agreements not to do it? I know eBay doesn't enforce their own rules I hit report this item a couple of times a month when I am in internet land however before I lost newsgroups or Usenet access that was an issue on the eBay related groups. Hence this might belong in the office section of the forum.

b) warning: yes if you list a bike on eBay in the vehicles portion and your reserve or opening price without one is met you owe the fees regardless of if the "buyer" goes through.

c) The whole business with pay pal is kind of grey as far as I can tell. If you use a card say visa MasterCard or like that in a transaction where the card is not present there are rules made by the government that the entity accepting payment has to obey. {kind of off topic but amusing, apparently there is this entity which does drug testing for employers who has stopped accepting credit card payment, guess too many charge reversals} If you sell a lot of stuff for about the same value it may work well but if you sell a few larger value items you can get burned if whatever decision arbitration makes ends up with you getting an engine back with parts swapped from what you sent for example.

If it is really a tight knit community the sensible thing is some sort of third party consignment system.

These things are/were race bikes. I got a late start say in 1992 but have friends went through these things like three in five years in the eighties. Ever heard the saying I have three of those parts the bent one the busted one and the rusted one which one do you want and how much do you want to spend?

As titles in the new Cafe Husky are not showing yet- I am the Vintage Leftkicker and a Cafe Husky Forum Moderator.

OHC.... while we have all thought about this ... I have to admit that your opening statement is right ... it is a touchy subject and I personally, as a CH Moderator wouldn't touch it with a 10Ft Pole. To many people have to many personal issues and personality traits to manage something like you are musing. ( note that I used the word musing as this is a insightfull question on your part and deserves an answer)

Ebay allows you to block people like this... I'm not sure about Craigslist... even Facebook allows blocking

In general though, having a section that would address "bad" suppliers or vendors would just create a hugely Negative Forum Vibe that we do not need.

Word of mouth travels fast in a small closeknit community like this. I'll leave it at that.

One last thought about this subject ... CH will never delete or minimize a thread with legitimate complaint that is well and clearly represented by the person posting the thread. Rants will not be allowed . Commentary from both sides should be expected.

We are High Class Forum unlike many of the others that are out there, so any type of negative posting will allways be closely watched to ensure that everyone is acting accordingly .

Also as a retailer i have had people go of on tangents for no reason at all. I had a guy all pissed about a skid plate that was the right one and i could not reason with him and a full refund including shipping was not to satisfy him even though he got the part ordered. there is two sides to every story and posting crap here only gives one and thats simply not fair. I understand the request, and it does makes some sense like "Angies list" type thing but I can't see it not getting out of control and on line spats which never seem to end well for anyone. My 2 cents.
 
I have often (well, not TOO often) used a public forum to expose poor customer service and general business practices of a company so that my fellow motorcycle enthusiasts can avoid the pitfalls of dealing with said company. I also e-mail a link to my public complaint to the company. This usually gets an owner or a manager involved and the problem is resolved very quickly. I am also quick to post up that the problem was resolved too. Sounds like dirty pool, but sometimes waving a company's poor service details out in public is the only way to get their attention.
 
What about an iTrader rating like many other forums use. Kinda like ebay feedback. If the transaction went smooth, you give a possitive rating to the buyer/seller. If it could be better or is horrible you can give a neutral or negative feedback. This rating is listed under the users name on each post.
 
The readers of this board probably know just about every company who deals in Husqvarna parts and services. There was-is a thread devoted to contact info for companies that members have used. I just can't find it at the moment. I think taking the time to give props to those who treat us well will do more good. For myself I have had excellent service from Motocentre in Yakima WA. and Husqvarna-parts.com in Arizona. Also Motosportz, haven't purchased from them yet..soon I hope, but great correspondence.
 
all though iv been had a few times via net sales, this post was started do to a deal with my younger brother, a new forum member is trying a rip off scam on him, i will see how it plays out before i post his name and the info.
iv had nothing but great experiances from fellow Husky addicts, even when something didnt work out, we always seem to make the best of things.
trust me, iv been on Fleabay since 1996, i have a loooooong list of blocked bidders, some for a good reason, some just cuz they were a dumbass.
i dont think this guy knows who my brother is, as he,s tried to buy bikes and parts from me, he is now on my blocked list.
figured id save him an ass whoopin, and me a trip to the pokey. lol
if anyone wants more detail, id be happy to share if you PM me.
 
Rather than have a place to post bad vendors, how about a place to post kudos for good experiences?
 
There is a thread on scams and stuff on Marks Vintage Swapmeet. I have cross referenced that in transactions here. Just a thought
 
What I like about CH is the positive and supportive attitude that permeates the forums. I prefer to avoid the "He said, she said" discourse that comes from deals gone wrong.
 
YEP, I agree... keep it positive. That's why CafeHusky has Charector that other forums don't. Its not easy to achieve a good personality on public forum that is consistant. However, CH has been very consitant.
A few months ago there was a couple posts that discusted me, it was resolved by moderation and some very patient members. A negative forum would attract more of that. If I want pure drama type entertainment- I can always find it elsewhere.

People ask where to get things and what things to get and we tell them. easyEnuff

There is always discussion behind the scenes to keep the Vibe on here strong and positive.... what I like about CH is that the membership effectively "Polices" itself for the most part. Thank you for noticing the character and the consistency.
