  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

250-500cc Honda CR250 reed block in a 02 CR250 husky?

At least the 92-01 reed valve gaskets fit because their basic cylinder design in those years were same.

I had a 00 honda cr250 reed block in my 02. I used the boyenson reeds. I liked the setup. Made the bike a better runner. Reeds lasted way long than the v force too.

I guess we will find out as I ordered one. My 02 has an aftermarket V-force and while it works well to get it to fit they installed a spacer plate so the reed cage does not hut the cylinder. This pushes the carb back and makes the carb fit like crap and ruined the air boot.

v-force2 reeds were stock on huskies in 2002.

Huh. You would know. I tried to take the aluminum spacer plate out and the reed black will not go in all the way as it hits the cylinder. The spacer shoves everything back. Wierd.

- There is also a cross bar above the carb and boot that does not seem stock, do you know if thats stock? It is kinda in the way.

Are you sure the V-Force is the correct one for your bike?

just snapped a pick and see it is a V-force 3. The plot thickens. See the huge reed spacer. None of these seems stock to me.

My 04 has a V-Force that fits fine with no spacer. Seems like if the spacer came with the reed block it would be anodized black?
I'd check with Bill... As you know he MXed those bikes.
My 04 was bought from Malcom Smith's Dealership by the PO. The factory reed came apart early in it's life and messed things up but no warranty. Billl fixed it and put a V-Force block in.

The spacer is not a stock part, semi unfinished looking. Probably made so the reed black will fit. If the CR one (Honda) I got coming I'm going to try that. Thanks for the info.

I think the problem with the V-Force fitting has to do with older model cylinders and the newer V-Force 3 in Kelly's picture. My bike is a 2008 which is equipped with a V-Force 2, I tried a V-Force 3 and it would not fit. Hence the aluminum spacer being used on that set up. I put Honda CR250 reeds in my V-Force and it works great.

The crossbar does not sound stock at all, you are the victim of some genius engineering.

moto sportz , that's not stock for sure as 02 cr's had v2 with no spacer. Maybe you can mill the spacer?

Yes V3's weren't even in production yet in '02. Wonder if the spacer is helping your low-end power, you said is was strong down low. My '01 was lazy down low compared to other period jap 250's, but had top end in spades, just the way I liked em!

Yeah I know, it for sure is not stock. We will see what I end up with and how it will run. New piston cant hurt the other one had a lot of blow by and was beat. Cylinder looks very good though. Stuff should be here soon.
