• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Highway Dirt Bike Handguard and Lynx Fairing

Has anyone installed HDB handguards with the Lynx fairing from Britannia Composites? Wondering if there are any clearance issues with the type of mount that HDB uses.

Thanks!

Alex

The HDB bars have a generic bend in them. You'll need to bend them in a vise to fit your handlebars, but it's not easy. Mine still take some muscle to bend them enough to get the bolts in. I find it easiest to bolt the ends of the handlebar first then push on the other end towards the top clamp. If you can't bend it to a perfect fit it will hit the display when you try to push it down (if you're using the stock Lynx mount location). Then you'll have to unmount the display, move it out of the way, bolt the guard down, and reattach the display. This is just for the left side. No need to remove the display for the right. And I switched out the HDB hex key bolts for 10mm socket head bolts. Using a little allen key to tighten those bolts got old quick.

Thanks for the info!

I don't have a vise, so this may be a little harder than I thought. I really dig the flip out mirrors though.

Sorry for the lame garage photo but just wanted to say that I haven't had any issues on my set-up.

If you are having trouble bending the handguards, annealing the area to be bent first will make it very easy and there is no risk of breaking them.

Stick one end of the guard into a hitch receiver. Heat it up a bit with a torch first.

Thanks for the tips. I don't have a hitch either :p

I think I will order a set and see, these are exactly what I want minus the bending part.
