As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.
When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.
Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.
Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.
Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.
Thanks for your patience and support!
Thanks.Well done Dirt Dame. Thank you for putting body and soul on the line. Dont take any plug nickels.
Wishing you a happy experience at the apex of our beloved site.
Regards;
Glenn
Other's who wish to volunteer for moderation duties, let me know and I'll pass your names on to somebody who can make the change.
Not going to sugar coat it.... Site owner and I have no chemistry, going back to when he was a mod on Thumper Talk Husky Forum. I've offered to help multiple times, most recently when the Austrian Husky forums were started and he has always declined. I'll just continue to be a posting member.....welp, I hate to volunteer people, but about a year ago I thought one or two in this list might be a good start (Hi norman):

Yup!Let's all bless the owner who is MIA. Someone is still paying the hosting fees and I hope getting some money from sponsors or advertising.
I'm already a global moderator on two other forums, so it's not going to be too big a surprise. I tend to be not heavy handed in moderation unless things get out of control, then i tend to nuke comments and threads. Sometimes I have to nuke posters too, but they had it coming.Just remember before you going signing anyone up for moderators, it's a thank less job, which you will probably soon learn.
There's plenty who like to bitch & few who realize what's involved it in, it's more then oh, this person is always online here, lets make
them a moderator.
I could use help as a admin, but that's even more work, and they all but disappeared.
So i wish you good luck, and don't get bogged down with things, you soon get you battle stripes

And thank you for the ad!
