  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

New guy here just saying Hi Having many bikes over the years, I went 20 years with out one cuz family, starting a new biz, and no time BLA BLA BLA. Well when I retired, last summer I got a TE 450 ( from Tasky's) Now I have to tell ya most of my friends said ARE YOU NUTZZZZ? Nothing in the Husky book said you can not be over 60. Yes I was hooked on Husky 20 years ago.
But my 450 is SOOOO much better than those old bikes. I just put on a Power up kit (thanks Jeff) and it may have solved my cough and flame out problem. I rode Gifford and Capitol last summer and can't wait to go back.
I rode Tahaya last Sat and found a lot of water...some deep water but that is another story. I ride with my son and son in law and since they have Jap Crap I am usually waiting for them to catch up LOL At only 600 miles I am close to needing a new back tire. With my helmet on, it is hard to tell I am an old guy cuz the back tire is spinning and I may be only on the back tire. Man I am glad I am back and on a TE 450 ,bigger tank will be next. So if any of you young guy's are willing to point us to and riding areas we are looking for some new ground. Hoping for Colorado and Idaho next summer Utah in the fall???
Kerry

You guys are gonna give the KTM's a run if you get many more Huskys:D

You need a "Group Shot" of everyone that rides red.

I'm really hoping that we can come up with a cool PNW group ride open for all Husky riders across the US in 2010 with 3 to 5 days of riding spearheaded by Kelly, Jake, Adam, Brandon, Brian, Tom, Scott and yours truly (I know I'm forgetting others) culminating at a race or something like that! Hopefully, Tami & Eric, Mike, Blake, robertaccio, wetdog, palmer and everyone else that I've met will make an appearance. Just thinking out load.

I keep forgetting that you're no longer on that KX!

...especially Seth too.

Verdito? That bike was like the family pit bull that finally mauled you just because it could. Unlike the KX I'm hoping the TE won't put me out of action for an entire spring AND summer.

Welcome Kerry. Mike here, just up the road from you off Echo lake Road. There are a bunch of us in the area that ride Walker Valley trails and roads in the off-season and during prime time go further and hit Lake Wenatchee and Chelan and Dual sport stuff all over, plus the summer rallies and local Dual Sports ad-hoc group rides arranged mostly on advrider PNW section.

Last 2 weeks of Feb there is a Ural/2-wheel annual get together in Death Valley, and same thing in Moab also last 2 weeks of April. With the Ural crowd I usually scout ahead or catch up after pictures for week 1, or hook up with some two-wheelers that join us, then the 2nd week is 2-wheel focused fun. A few guys in this area meet with with riders from Texas, Arizona, Colorado and beyond.

Losts of scheduled dual sports rallies on the weekends mostly starting in June. They usually have options for single track or forest roads. Right now selling my KLR650 and reworking my TE610 (Lynx fairing/lights, suspension, risers/bars) for the upcoming trips. I hit single track on the 610 no problem and have a truck camper and trailer getup so will doing more weekend destination base camp type trip stuff in-season.

Feel free to contact me for a chat sometime if you like. I am not retired yet, but working on it.

Hi Mike call me some time to BS 206 450 1032 or fishermankerry@hotmail.com I am retired so I fish for salmon and steelhead also. So I have a place on the Cowlitz river and plan to explore some logging roads down there. There should be some good rides down there??? Kerry

I have drifted the Cowlitz, but not explored the roads in the area yet apart from some mountain tops where they were logging years ago (Petermen Hill south of Morton is the closet I can recall. I am sure there are loads of good riding there. A lot of Woodland/Vancouver WA guys on this forum. I traded most of my rods and reels for a XL250 last summer, but kept all my lures and gear and Florida rods/reels.

I will try to give you a call at some decent hour. Picking up reworked TE suspension from Port Orchard this Saturday morning, and installing a Lynx fairing this week at night after work and this weekend. Making other small mods along the way getting it ready for Death Valley and Moab trips in the spring.

- Mike
