  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Hi Flow oil filter?

ozzie

Husqvarna
AA Class
My question, is a hi flow Filter ok for the TE 450 ?? The Husky dealer said to me they are not up to standard and Husky Australia will not cover any engine probs when you use one.

Other than stock, I think that's the only other brand out there. I've been using HiFlos in all three of our Huskies for several years now and none of them have blown up. I don't have warranties to worry about, though.

I would be curious to hear what others have to say about this as well. Using HiFlo's here as well. Does anyone use stock Husky only?

Ditto. Used them for years on my Orange bikes and now my Husky. Appear to be same quality, if not identical, as the K&N filters when held up side by side.

Anyone running the Twin Air ones? They show on their website & my brother in law (who is a dealer...twin air) said he is going to try and get them for me.

Gawd, hope the HiFlo's work, been using them in all my street/dirt bikes for several years. HF116 for '10 TXC 250, HF 154/563 for 08 510.

Aren't they owned by K&N?

hey ozzie are they the ones from ballards? i bought a hole lot from them wen i got me husky then the dealer said they were no good :( and warantee would be null and void

Is there another Aussie dealer around you can call and ask about the warranty coverage? It kinda sounds like your dealer is try to hustle you.

The dealer is correct - the Husqvarna warranty is dependant upon using genuine parts for servicing. It's fair enough really; Husqvarna can't control the quality or design of aftermarket parts so why should they be responsible for a failure that may be a result of incorrect or sub standard parts? If genuine parts are used then they'll stand by the bikes.

Sidquick, I think the bulk Ballards jobs are a cheaper Asian import. I was told the paper they used was poor quality-hense the price. I think you will find they are not Hi-Flow.

Thanks for the info, Dave. Well if that's what the warranty says then I guess you'll be using stock filters!

HI sidquick i got them of this site from Motosportz when i got F/R disk protector. So where he get them from :excuseme:

Performance is rated as similar for the Hi Flow in terms of micron filtration and quality of material etc.
It is then a case of price. The Hi Flows are 4-5 bucks cheaper and more readily available.
