  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

I have a 2010 TE 250 that has thrown me a curve ball.
The bike has recently refusing to turn over as if the battery is flat. Only does one revolution.
The battery was new but carried out a full charge and still the same.
Removed the starter motor and didn't seem to be in a brilliant condition and replaced it thinking it was the issue. Still the same.
Removed the flywheel cover and "felt the operation " of the sprag clutch and seemed to be ok.
The bike kick starts fine.
Any ideas??

Sounds like you need to go through a process of elimination.
If it wont start electrically, but fires up no problem on kick start, then timing, spark plug, spark coil, should all be good!!

big chance it could be the relay that closes and opens when you press the start button, this relay is under seat near battery, and could have shitty contacts. reasonably common fault, simple to fix.

You can test this by by-passing the relay and running a positive wire straight from the battery to dead side of the relay (no start button required, make sure its in neutral)

If you have this all set-up, try the start button, when it wont start, go straight to the by-pass test if it fires up, that's your problem.

If its not that, your going to need the workshop manual to get a little deeper into the electrics at which point, You will need a reasonably good quality digital multi meter.

But before that happens, try the relay by-pass test.

keep the forum updated, either way, plenty of input from others that know more.
