• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

TE/TC Help with TE300 gas tank

Snel

Husqvarna
AA Class
Hi Guys,
I am irritated how Husky has in the owners manual the gas tank listed at 10.7 L or 2.83 G. Soon after I got the bike I drained the tank and filled it up using a 2 liter Coke bottle. With the bike standing up right, I marked the level on the tank with a sharpie after each 2 liter bottle added. The tank was fill after a little over 8 liters. The manual says it takes 10.7, so I thought I had somehow forgot to mark the tank after adding a bottle somewhere mid tank. I did not feel like draining the tank and double checking, just put it down to a senior moment and left it at that. I thought I had read somewhere on this site someone had stretched their tank and now holds 3 gallons. Decided to stretch my tank as a decent ride I would use a whole tank plus 2 two liter Coke bottles of gas and barely make it back to my truck.
With the tank empty and in place on my bike, I filled the tank with boiling water let it sit for about five minutes then pressurized it. It did not hold much pressure before the air escaped from the gas cap. The tank expanded mostly on the larger side with the petcock. The next day I laid the bike on it's side and only filled the smaller side with boiling water and pressurized it, hoping to get the tank a little more symmetrical. The end result the tank does not look too bad. It is a little wider, you can feel it when siting on the bike.
So I was hoping for about 13 liters (3.4 gallons) as I thought I was starting at 10.7 liters. Filled the tank again using a 2 liter Coke bottle and marking as I went. To say I was unhappy and disappointed would be an understatement, when I found the tank only holds a little over 10 liters. Made me start thinking how much does a 2 liter bottle hold, so I measured and found I was over filling the Coke bottle a little each time. So I am thinking the tank holds about 10.5 liters (2.77G).
So my questions are.....Has anybody on this site stretched a TE300 gas tank so that it actually holds 3 gallons. If so what did I do wrong?, I even added a rubber gasket made out of a bicycle tube to the gas cap so I could add more pressure. Does anybody know of any after market tank that will hold 3.5 to 4 gallons that will fit our bikes.
If somebody can tell how to add pictures, I will add some.

Thank,
Sean.

Simple solution... Aftermarket tank for a late model KTM and some white KTM radiator shrouds. Craig Delong ran this combo, with PG graphics.....

CHUCK SUN HAD THE SAME GAS TANK AND SHROUDS ON HIS TC250 SUNDAY AT THE FLYING M RANCH RACE.LOOKED GOOD.

Why is there no big tank option for the Huskys?

Sure you can buy a tank, shrouds and graphics, your in it like $450 and the rad shrouds don't line up with the rest of the plastic. Silly there is no factory or aftermarket option by now. I'm I missing something here?

Nope, especially if you are mindful that Husky is supposed to be second fiddle to the "Race Ready" KTMs

IMS is making the tanks. John-Erik said no to any of the factory teams using KTM tanks and shrouds, irritated with us apparently too.

Just quit making them look bad. Throw a few races and let the KTMs get more places ahead.

That should make them happy...right?

Well they seem to be selling really well so why not tank options?
Husky USA under BMW was just as slow getting tanks for X-Lite and 125's in '09. I spent a good bit of my time and money, trying to move the process along with P3 to no avail..... Had fun with Lindsay Pirie, cool guy!

I'm in Aus and found the exact same issue I went back to husky Australia and said it was false advertising and the 10.7L tank is now on it's way to me. Seems that Australia isn't only country with issue

Parkeshusky, do you have to send your old tank back after you receive your new tank? The reason I ask, I've stretched my tank already. I think I'm going to try contact Husky USA. Hopefully I will get the same results, see what happens.

OK OK I'm having a Te tank installed on my etc. Is this a stupid move??? I thought the Te was rated at 2.9 gall????? Am I wasting $200????
