  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

help...what to buy?te511, tc449 or txc310

Like Lonny said, no bad choices here. I like the choice you made. Get the cool different bike. They are very good. In fact I dare to say have been more reliable and way less issues than the 250/310 which suffers some from wiring, starting and fuel gremlins. they are great bikes but if you read around 449/511 issues are few and far between. Very solid and cool bike. Unique looking and great motor and CTS. Disregard the magazines and BMW haters and Enjoy.

And its not hard to make the flame out go away.....reset TPS, alternate maps, JD6X or Power Commander all offer improvements. Break it in a little, reset the TPS and then read the extensive threads on the cures.

cool, thanks for the info everyone!...anybody figure out a kickstand on this thing yet? also going to order a skidplate from motosportz here in the next week or so i think:)

You wont be disappointed with your new bike. I have the same one and its a complete hoot to ride. I bought the JD Tuner and it was worth every penny. I have SM wheels for mine and a plate so I swap between moto, off road, and carving the back roads. Now THATS a dual purpose machine! And demi is right. I get looks everywhere I go. Its one distinct bike! The CTS is my favorite part of the bike. Congrats and let us know what you think. Here is a pic of my baby!IMG_0550.JPG

Never missing an opportunity to post pix of my bike :)

We rarely get 449's in the shop :( 250/310s are better for business. :D

Now, those Husky 165's, those are not good choices...

rode it for 30 mins after work....having a hard time restraining myself....but gotta break it in nicely... Cant wait to get it out on some hills, i bet this thing with the CTS is a monster on some big steep hills that lack traction....

Thanks. The number plates are from decal works. I went with the OEM white plastics kit and has a couple SRT stickers sitting around. I think it looks nice and clean. I added the yellow accents for better visibility on the road. The headlight is from my KTM300. It has a built in switch so I run my lights directly from the battery and through this switch. Its very minimal but gets me by.

Good luck with the kickstand. Ive searched quite a bit and came up with one solution.....make my own. I havnt done it yet but need to figure it out. If anyone has any ideas feel free to jump in!

It don't think it does either. My KTM race bike didn't, so I welded a tab on like the EXC's and it works fine. You can buy the tabs premade. I can try to source one if you can't find one.

That seems like our only option. I will see if i can find the tab. If you come across a supplier let me know. I will definitely get one welded on and buy the OEM stand. That would be awesome.
