  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Help on uncorking a 2007 450 TE

Husqvarna
AA Class
Hello all,
I'm new to the forum and to Husky, but not to 2 wheels. I just picked up an 07 450TE to be used in vermont on fire roads and single track and the ocassional MX outdoor session (but not many as i have other bikes for that). I have spent way to much money chasing the extra 5 hp and i have ridden some stuff bone stock for many years and everything in between.
So far, I really like the bike, but i feel like it has much more to give.
I was hoping you could give me the basic motor "must Do's" I'm ok on suspension, Factory and I have a long running relationship and I'm always happy.
the bike-
2007 450 TE with 45 easy hours and 900 mi.
the only upgrades are a hose kit and radiator braces.
the bike runs great and starts easily cold and hot.
IMO it's running rich all the way through the range, but i was not going to tune it, before i re-jet it unless someone tells me the stock jet's can be used after uncorking

from what i have read, it would seem I should -
JD jet kit
de-smog uncork the can
remove the throttle stop
check valve clearence (.004-.006 intake and .006-.008 exaust) is that right?
if i need Valve shims, use Husky or is there a better option.

if you know of an thread that deals with this stuff please LMK where it is i could not find it with the search.
thank you all in advance for any insight help.
warm regards,
newell

I'm looking into purchasing a TE450 2007 and would also be interested the uncorking it.

Any updates or useful threads?

I bought a 2007 TE450 brand new and love it. 6000+ miles and running better than ever. What I have done:

remove throttle stop
JD jet kit, (definately purchase this!) comes with all instructions and how to o-ring accelerater pump in carb
stock exhaust and silencer
turned handle bar mounts forward (agressive riding style)
raised forks up in clamps (better steering)
sent suspension out to LT racing, (much more plush)
Rekluse clutch (can't say enough good about these!!!)
7602 clutch cover (mainly for oil sight glass, but fits Rekluse with no spacer gasket)
Dropped one tooth on front sproket 13 I "think" (much, much better in trails)

that's it other than regular oil changes (Rotella from first oil change!), chain and sprockets, tires, had to shim valves 1 time 3k miles ago. My bike has been bullet proof. I ride 90% trails HARD! Only roads are to connect trails. Do local national Dual Sport rides. "A" class enduro rider.....if that means anything to you:rolleyes:

I have the 07 TE 450 as well. It had the smog stuff taken off, unplugged accelerator pump, rejetted, not from a kit. It works quite well. It could use more bottom end torque, but revs up and hits pretty hard on top
